Intel cuts cords with wireless system

Man, only by 2050 ...... I'll be either too old to care about anything or dead, lol :o Very very cool thing though, wireless power :D

It turns out the human body is not affected by magnetic fields;
People who are working with magnet therapy will probably dispute this statement.

lit a 60 watt lamp... iish, they were doing that 40 years ago already. Built my first tesla coils when I was twelve, lit light bulbs and flourecent lamps a couple of metres away.

D

its a reminder to me too, i just find it kinda a bit confusing, almost the same as them saying no there are undersea cables being put in, but i'm still waiting for my broadband cost to come down.

We've all been waiting for that peder.
2050? I'll be... almost kinda dead by then. ;D

Rubbish.

If they can levitate a live frog with magnetic fields, then its a reasonable assumption that the fields probably also have *some* effect on humans.

Hell, we can't even figure out whether cellphones/wifi is dangerous....and now they want to pump 60 watts+ through the air. No thanks.

This whole thing reminds me of the scientists claiming that smoking isn't harmful.

I do know a microwave kind of destroys all nutrients and goodness in our food. Well a cellphone's "wavelength area" is around 100 times smaller than a microwave, so I reckon it's pretty safe. Most scientists say so too.

But on topic with wireless power... um.... I think I'll stick to electricity for now thank you.

Maybe now's the time to buy some Intel stock.

So many naysayers on a technologically driven forum. Telkom has infected us all with their slowmoving patheticness!! :p

Please never work at R&D at any company

human body effects

Just a thought, I walk on the left side of the tranmitter, and some really hot girl walks on the right. I get a postive magnetic charge, she gets a negative. Suddenly we are stuck togethor, hmmm, wild thoughts.
:D

....and junior spoils the fun.

No, it is not. A microwave wavelength is 12.24 cm, while a 900mhz cellphone wavelength is 33.4cm and a 1800mhz cellphone has a wavelength of 16.7cm (BTW, your wifi also has a wavelength of 12.24cm)

EDIT: There is of course a huge difference in power output (W).

Not in that sense of the word. I am referring to the strength of the apparent radiation emitted. But who cares....
