Intel Optane memory shipped for testing

Intel has started shipping its first Optane memory modules for testing, with the aim of releasing products for sale by next year, PCWorld reported.

Optane is the name under which Intel is branding products based on 3D XPoint – a non-volatile memory technology.

It is going to the market faster than predicted. 7th gen Core i CPU's can use new memory straight away.

I am excited to see the results of these tests, I think this tech is going to be amazing!

I don't think this is going to replace RAM any time soon, this is more for SSD use

Don't see the use if it's not faster or recognised as non-volatile, though the latter can probably be fixed with a BIOS update.
