So this thing is a BEAST! Any good for gaming? perhaps I should pick one up :) Anything else similar to it??

Honestly Intel boards suck.
Get a Gigabyte/Asus with a Intel chipset. I have a Gigabyte x48-DQ6 :)

Wrong. They don't suck. Yes, they might not have all the extra "goodies" that Gigabyte/ASUS have, but they are supremely stable.

Some of the best server boards are Genuine Intel...

;)

Theres a obvious difference between Server & Workstation boards.
Secondly, He mentioned Gaming. And Compare the Intel board to Asus/Gigabyte.
Try Reading up.

I don't mind to have a rig like the following Chinese guy I saw on a HW forum:
http://lh6.ggpht.com/xkseraph/SHjWE...IN1CWo7c4/s800/LianLiX2000_SkullTrail_041.jpg

MB: 2 x SkullTrail mb Intel X5400XS
CPU cooler : 4 x Scythe Zipang coupled with 4 x Scythe S-Flex 1900RPM 12cm Fan
Processor: 4 x Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775
Memory: Kingston 2 x 4gb FB DDR2 800MHz & Kingston 4 x 1gb HyperX® 800MHz DDR2 ECC FB-DIMM
3D Card: 4 x XFX nVidia GeForce 280GTX
Harddrives: 4 x 300gb WD Velociraptor + 2 x 1TB WD GP & 2 x 64gb MTRON 7000PRO + 4 x 300gb WD Velociraptor

And from the above you can see he got two of the same rig, eish.......

LOL.

I do.

Gaming wise, yes they slightly faster. (Gigabyte/ASUS, most of the time...)

But you said they crap.

Prove me wrong.

Wait. I'll build a couple PC's with Server Mobo's and compare them to Gigabyte/Asus Mobo's.

Crap for Gaming compared to Gigabyte/Asus Mobo's.

Intel's desktop boards rock... Id rather take the 5% performance knock for the 50% gained in stability :)

They not crap.

YES. OTHER MANUFACTURERS MAY BE FASTER.

(I didn't say otherwise)

As I stated (Nivek might agree), Genuine Intel boards are designed for stability first, performance second... (not to say they can't overclock...)

I would prefer to pay R1000 less and receive a 10% performance dip, for a Genuine Intel.

I didn't though. Instead I bought a relatively cheap ASUS board that did SLI...

:)

lol Ok.
My Opinion for gaming & Overclocking= They are crap.
Yours: Not.

Enjoy your night :)

Skulltrail will be amazing for gaming when quad core threaded applications and games come out, plus when the ATi HD4870x2 comes out there will be even more reason to combine the two :D I used a skulltrail machine while I was in the US for graphic design and rendering, all I can say is MIND-BLOWING, omw!!! It cuts redering times down drasticly! Pitty though when I came back to SA I could'nt get one for work, I wonder why, the price maybe... :(

Know what's crazy?

I've seen three PS3s clustered and running folding computations..

WOW.

I'd love to get hold of just a couple of PS3 boards or just Cell cpu and board, and run some nice mathematical models on it.

Mind blowing.

Now that's something I'd pay to see! :D
