Hey there,

I just spoke to a Telkom guy at 10210 to find out if our Exchange can handle 10mb and he said it is not available, but Telkom is currently upgrading and as soon as they are finished, they will automatically upgrade me to 10mb. :)

He also mentioned then if it is not stable at 10mb then they will downgrade it to 8mb. I now just have to wait and see if I can get upgraded to 10mb. I am currently on a 4mb line. Would be so awesome.

Let's hope you get a stable connection.

Make a note of your router stats before they upgrade to compare. :)

Congrats, some of us have been waiting for more than a year after Telkom first announced the upgrades. I still don't know of a single exchange in Centurion that supports 10mbps and we host the enormous Telkom DC, and Highveld Technopark business hub.

Yeah I had a 'chat' like that last year September where it was mentioned that sometime in the next 2 months I would be upgraded ........ 3 guesses as to how much BS that was ;)
 
like the way they tell you your exchange can only support 1Mbps and then you find out your neighbour has 4Mbps. :sick:

do you know for a FACT that your exchange doesnt have 4 ATM connections and 4 ME connections? (I dont know, Im just speculating)

this would explain why some people have different speeds. not all lines terminate at the same rack inside the exchange.

Also his card may be an old card and his friends one is a new card, since maybe he installed it later than you, that is one of my problems stuck with an old card and they have no new compatible cards for adsl 2+ that I can use.
 
I wish Durban beachfront would get 10mb already! Ridiculous that we still stuck on 4mb!!!
