So my profile has been changed from fast to Interleaved(apparently)

However, I noticed that my upstream line rate has dropped from 511kbits to 255kbits after Telkom re created my Port. My downstream is still set at 4096 so by the looks of things, I'm worst off on that upstream, or am I missing something here?

From speed tests done, Im getting around 3.5mbps on the download(fine) but now only 0.22mbps on the upload. Previously I got 0.45 or there abouts consistently. So what are the general feedback around being switched to Interleaved from fast? Anybody experience a drop somewhere rather than an increase?

You need to contact TelkomZA about changing your line back to fast past. Your line stats are incredible and there is no reason for it to be on Interleaved.

That was my thoughts as well. Initially I was struggling, with download speeds, hence the reason they looked to change me to interleave to try and Correct the drop in speed

Have the download speeds improved since the change over?

No not really. Previously it use to fluctuate all the time. On a good day, it used to be stable at around 3.5mbps, but on a bad day below 1mbps.

Uploads now is poor though, as previously I was at 0.45mbps, now I'm at 0.22. I'll see if I can get them to change me back to fast

I think you should report and escalate the fault with Telkom until something happens, sounds like a line/exchange issue.

Have the exact same issue, used to be syncing at 20476kbps down and 1020kbps up. It is now 19330kbps down and 768kbps up. Really irritates me and I hope Telkom can fix the problem for us that have this issue. Router stats have not changed either. No new noise on the line or anything. My nightmare started with using the "fix my line" tool from afrihost. Even since then my line performance has been lower.

How do you tell weather it's on fast or interleaved?

At the bottom on his picture it says "Upstream Interleave Delay" "Downstream Interleave Delay". Most routers will have something similar in the stats.

You can contact Afrihost about that, use their chat service on the website. I have heard about their "fix my line" tool causing issues like this

I'm just annoyed as to the fact, that changing me to Interleaved has done nothing to my speeds. It has also taken my upstream line rate down, from 512kbps to 255kbps. Urgh. Back to giving Telkom a call.

The "fix my line" tool actually changed my Modulation from adsl2+ to adsl, from either fast Path to interleaved or the other way around, it also synced me at 64kbps. Not joking, 64kbps!!! Dial up speed. Afrihost have managed to get it to 19mbps but they now say that they don't have much control over the lines since Telkom updated their system so they apparently can only help so far (for me it's to 19mbps). Would be really awesome if they could fix it completely though as I know it did sync for over a year like that. Not a rant though, afrihost are very helpful. :)

The New Dynamic Spectrum management system(or whatever it's called) Telkom have in place, is something non of the ISP's have control over. This is the system that automatically manages the interleave things etc, but I do speak under correction.

So basically there is nothing we can do to set our line speed or modulation? :erm: That seems like a very flawed system to have no manual control over the network....

Do you get any notification that they're going to do the interleaved upgrade? Because i received an sms yesterday about an infrastructure upgrade, not sure if its related.

I requested my line be changed to fast path over a year ago, and it fixed mostly everything. Now it's been changed back to interleave

This is how my latency to my exchange is looking:

Honestly, Telkom?

You can change your router's SNR target via telnet or SSH. On my router (DSL 2750U) it's:
Code:
telnet 10.0.0.2
[enter username "admin"]
[enter password]
adsl configure --snr [enter percentage here]

I thought you could not manually change your router SNR margins?

Strange, the line here at work also changed to interleaved since the last time I checked (might be a year ago). No problems at all though, didn't notice the switch.

Code:
