As the title says, for the past week or so, my line has randomly been dropping every 10 minutes or so and then it stays down for a few minutes. The dsl stays synced but the internet connection drops. Not being able to work properly is really getting on my nerves. Anyone else having this problem?

I know this problem can be related to SNR and LA, but with my current router I am unable to check these values. I've also tested on my Axxess account, the line keeps on dropping, so with no changes being made from my end, what are the chances of this being line related?

Mweb 4mb uncapped.

As I said, with the Linksys cisco routers, you are unable to read your SNR and LA values, for whichever retarded reason :P. At least this is what the internet tells me. Although I could be wrong about that.

The Cisco modem that I have at my office can give the SNR margins. We're monitoring them 24/7 using SNMP ;)

It would be very strange if yours cannot report them. The only time when the router shouldn't be able to report them, is when it's a broadband (Ethernet) router and not an ADSL modem.

What model do you have?

WAG120N, we found a link that gives a readout of your line statistics, including the SNR and LA values, but bouth of the values were blank in the report.

*sigh* There it goes again.

ALL DAY every few minutes for the last 5 days. Can't stand it anymore.

I had this issue a long while ago. But sometimes all you need to do is call telkom, or Mweb if you get the line through them and just ask them to reset the profile on the DSLAM this previously solved the issues I had.

I've been having a similar problem for the past 2 weeks. Line connection drops although line stays synced and it reconnects almost immediately. It's never down for more than 10 seconds or so but long enough to drop my Skype call. Happens so often, I'm almost used to it. Doesn't that say a lot about the state of service we're used to? Will try calling Telkom tomorrow to reset the profile and post here if it works.

OK, so I called Telkom, had the port recreated on the DSLAM, reconnected the modem and...the line disconnected again within 25 minutes. Just received a strange error message on my PC though, which says there is an IP address conflict on my network. That's confusing because nothing has changed on the network so I'm not sure where this error is coming from all of a sudden.

I'm on wifi connection but have never had this error before.

Update: So I've now received the same error message on both computers on my network at home. I released and renewed the ip on one machine so now we'll see if it gets any better.

Maybe someone hacked into your wireless?

If you want to know your ADSL stats and router cant tell them, Phone Telkom and ask them for the stats they can tell you them.

Ive asked them before to see if my router stats are correctly being read.

And you dont have iPads, laptops or anything of that sort? I get that error when I connect with those stuff

my line has been like that since december and had telkom here 3 times and the same old ...its not telkoms fault, the problem is on my side.
