International bandwidth and lower pricing

I'm happy to be alive at this time. Prices must keep falling at this rate, and I hope the smaller ISP's don't bow out as yet 'cause we still need them:D I'll be satisfied when I can watch HDTv and not run out "cap" & cash.

Wow, Telkom speaks. They've been silent for way too long. Its about time Telkom.

Telkom CEO predicts a significant increase in international bandwidth capacity which will ‘dramatically’ reduce the cost per Gig
- Reuben September after reading a memo that was left on his desk 4 years ago...

Mr September welcome to November 2009. My dog could figure that out but go ahead, give yourself a performance bonus, you deserve it, really you're such a smart fella!

They can shove cost per GB up where the sun don't shine - do away with the extra "line rental" costs! Freakazoid!

I`m all for bashing Telkom, but MTN is just as bad.
At the recent MyBroadband Conference Sameer Dave, CTO at MTN SA, said that they expect further international bandwidth price cuts of between 15% and 20%
They make comments about the drops and further drops but they still charge R289 a Gig (and R1.20 a MB Out of budle?)

This guy is full of it. Telkoms ADSL prices haven't dropped for at least the last 3 years. Line rentals have also increased. It used to be about R100 for an phone line and about R130 for the 384kbps ADSL line. Now it's R130ish and R150ish respectively. Telkoms shouldn't be getting any good publicity at all. Those Telkom ads on TV just make me sick.

I agree, I do not know what MyBB is benefiting giving Telkom exposure like this, they have created artificial supply by not utilising SAT3 to the full, they still have not scrap the line rental and/or reduce the ADSL rental. Now thanks to other investment their comment is: "Uhh....competition will lower the cost per Gig."

I really hope that MyBB would stop providing them with exposure with this utter nonsense. On so many levels Telkom is harming South Africa.

No one says when these price cuts are gonna be here! SEACOM has been up for nearly 5 months now and I haven't seen any changes to my ISPs prices. When are all the local ISPs gonna reduce their prices? Im with Cybersmart btw...

thats's why idiot....cybersmart = FAIL

international bandwidth prices have already declined by 90% since SAT-3 became operational in 2002
Yet we haven't seen any significant decreases, i.e they used the savings to line pockets.
