International down on telkom, anyone else?

Mine worked for the first like 5-10 minutes after I rebooted the router to get back on to international cap, logged on to steam, then steam went down and figured I just DC'd like I do sometimes. Then nothing else worked. So I went to a braai. Came back home, still not working, facebook works yet oddly I can't get onto my own profile (o_O?), come on here, find it's not just me, check as I type this out and everything is working.

If this is a DNS issue then if you ping an address like www.google.com or whatever it wouldn't get the IP address to ping, correct? Because that still works fine, whenever I try to go to an international site FF shows in the bottom "Looking up whatever.com" and then shortly after "Connecting to whatever.com"
 
Anyone know yet why this is happening? its deffinatly nation wide. And since its Telkom we dealing with I hope they get this fixed before monday
 
Yeah international is extremely slow. Really messed with my gaming time which ain't much.

Still having problems. Steam downloads in the background, however, which is strange. Can't believe the problem still isn't fixed and we haven't been contacted to let us know what the problem is. :/
 
Been fine all morning and just went down again. Though steam is still working, lol.
 
My Steam now works for 30 seconds, then suspends all my downlaods for 5 minutes. It's really getting irritating. This isn't why we pay close to R300 a month for internet.
 
International Sites Also Down In Cape Town, Parklands

I had internet radio last night from UK on the galaxy tablet but no international sites today. Just picked up this thread here in Cape Town, Parklands, so I see it's a major problem. It shows how we have become dependent on INTERNATIONAL feeds
 
Exactly. I'm behind with work because these flipping Telkom people taking so long to fix this issue.

I seems to be sorted out now. Was able to download the 500+ Mb videos I treid to get over the last few days. I must have lost 3Gb of bandwidth through the repeated crashes. Maybe Telkom knew about a coming problem and that is why they gave us a 20Gb allocation?
 
Yeah it seems to have become stable from 6pm yesterday. Finally downloading stuff - also got a extra 5GB into my existing 5GB account. woot!!!

You can't really blame them for being behind, there's so many backup options (ISP was down, not the line). I simply changed to WA.

I don't have back-up to turn to. That's the problem. A lot of people have advised me to get an Afrihost or Axxess prepaid voucher as back up in case of times like this... So I'm going to invest in either one of them. Does anyone know how long a prepaid voucher would last? Someone told he has one for 3years and you just top it up when you need to... I don't know much about this though.
 
gooogle was up and down yesterday, other access was fine. be happy those faults are intermittent, imagine all the dirty nappies if there was a 2 week outage like a certain ISP had not too long ago
