Ok, well disconnections have stopped, but I am completely unable to do anything international.

Does anyone else have any international traffic?

Just woke up to no international connectivity as well. Looks like it stopped working a few hours ago.

International still finicky ?

I am aware of the up and down international traffic last night and seems to still be very finicky.

I have always been using OpenDNS but have had to replace using my own gateway just to connect to international sites which still seems to be very sluggish. I cannot even connect to speedtest.net for a speedtest while http://speedtest.neotel.co.za/ does and gives me:
Last Result:
Download Speed: 136 kbps (17 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 71 kbps (8.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
which is perfectly normal.

I generally use Opera with Turbo function (Opera's Proxy) enabled which currently does not work and have had to resort to disabling the Turbo function just to connect to international sites.
If I have The Turbo Function enabled I receive the message "Connection refused"

This is absoloutely the wrong time for international traffic to be almost unusable as we have family and friends that we wish to send greetings of the season as well as keep in touch.

Hugo I have sent an email to [email protected], would be much appreciated to see acceptance of the email as to be honest I have not yet received any form of feedback from you or previous emails sent to previous Neotel Representatives on numerous occassions now.

Good luck and sure hope Neotel are able to sort whatever issue we are having on Christmas Eve.

** Really shocked to hear 200metres of F/O cable was stolen, why on earth would someone do that ?

Did post an update in the network notices thread - check it there for the int' sites downtime - due to theft of cable. :wtf:

Seriously - it's not even copper and they still steal it.....

Hugo

Hmmm the people who are 2 dumb dont know the difference between copper and fiber.

They only realise that it is not copper when they try melt it down ....

So much for Neotel having a redundant network if the loss of a single cable does this.......

How is International for everyone ?

I have managed to connect to International both on the www, msn and skype but oh so laggy and intermittent.. not like it was before at all.

OpenDNS seemed to work for a few minutes and down again.
Any suggestions please ? As I was seriously hoping to be in touch with family and friends for this Christmas eve.

Now am getting this every time I navigate:
Connection refused: mybroadband.co.za:80
Have to refresh a few times and back in.
