Can sum1 plz help me. When i double click IE the hour glass appears on the cursor but after a few seconds IE still doesnt open.

I tried the following already...

1. Click Start, click Run, and type the following command in the Open box:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 C:\windows\inf\ie.inf

Note: You may copy this command line and paste it into the Open box, and then run it.

2. Click OK.

3. Restart the computer

i also tried...

To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
Quit all programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
Shdocvw.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

But still it doesnt want to work. Now what?

Open Control Panel> Internet Options>

Click on Advanced then click Reset. Make sure to reset IE to defaults. That should sort it ;)

Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Click the Add/Remove Windows Components on the left side. Uncheck Internet Explorer from that list and then click OK etc until it closes. Then do the same thing again(Control Panel, Add/Remove etc...), but this time, check the box with Internet Explorer. It will now reinstall it.

I'm assuming you are running windows XP ?

Here is a link at Microsoft that describes the process for repairing IE ( both version 6 and 7 ) on XP : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378

It is not an easy process and involves editing the registry.

my suggestion is : repair IE as it is handy in certain circumstances, but make opera or firefox ( i prefer opera )your default browser, less headaches, faster speeds and less chances of viruses and malware.

thanx 4 the input guyz but still no luck. I am runing XP and i did always have firefox installed but even that does not want to open. i forgot to mention 1 thing, in my post i mentiond i few things a tried now when i get to the part where i have to do the "regsvr32 for Shdocvw.dll" i get an error message saying "DllRegisterServer in shdocvw.dll failed. Return code was: 0x8002801c"

Im assuming this is the problem but dont know how to repair it.

Excuse me for pointing out the obvious, but have you run a virus check?

One of my lusers had similar problems which got squared away by Clamav

well after i installed kaspersky i did run the full virus scan and it found a virus but its gone now. Since i installed Kaspersky ive been experincing this problem, i had AVG on my pc before that and everything was fine.

I uninstalled kaspersky and installed NOD32,ran a full scan and no virus but still the internet problem.

Also, when i double click IE or Firefox and doesnt come up but it shows in my task manager under processes.

Are you having trouble opening any other applications?
I bought a gamepad at a flemarket once and they gave me a CD with the drivers. Turned out there was a virus on the disc which only effected my exe files... So trying to run an application would do the same thing your IE is doing. It corrupted a lot of my applications & games, even setup files that had an exe extension...

EDIT: I see your post about the process showing in your task manager, this isn't what I had...
I still think it's a virus of some sort tho

Yeah it must have been a virus and its only my IE thats doesnt open. I have to open my documents or sumthn then type the website in the the address bar. Thats how i surf.
