Anybody still having problems?I can't stand this anymore.Every 2mins without fail all day long.

Mweb, Afrihost and Imaginet - all failing badly ........ just keeps dying, sometimes for a few minutes or like just now, 45 minutes. Something big is up and no one is owning up. Spoken to friends and they are having similar issues .... all over the country.

Methinks MyBB needs to look into this.

Yes, I cant connect to any sites :( I mean even Afrihost Client Zone doesnt want to load.

Having the same problem with Afrihost here - mybb seems to be the only site I can connect to. BTW - something minor but it's becoming irritating - your Internet is not hanging. You don't have your own Internet and if "the Internet" was really hanging that would be interesting. Your Internet connection, however, is an entirely different matter.

Most sites time-out, only have access to Afrihost and, stupidly, to YouTube ... OMfG :(
Called my special friends on 0800-375 375 and that guy told me my line seeems to be normal and I must call AH. Thought it's just the typical Telkom bull$hit story but now second guessing. At least I somehow got connected to MyBB. YAY!

EDIT: AFAIIK AH has learned from past SEACOM outages and booked some bandwith on SAT-3 or thereabouts. So they now have a secondary system to fall back on, kinda sorta.
I do think it is indeed Telkom's badly managed and fast deteriorating infrastructure showing. My connection is superbad since middle of October and I'm slowly starting to wish I'd be back with Neohell again. Yes, it's that bad :/

For the past few days I get disconnected 2 or 3 times in the afternoons/evenings. Very irritating trying to do a bit of gaming with these disconnections. I'm with Afrihost too.

Had the same thing all week, internet would be really fast and then drop to a crawl... and then telkom just downgraded my line to 384Kb from 4Mb even though I am paying for a 4Mb line :/

Thing is, I'm on a capped account with AH, for the purpose of having a more stable and fast connection ... dunno who's to blame for this newest fĂĽckĂĽp, prolly Telscum.

Something is definitely wrong...and its not ISP related.

The Webafrica traces look just like the ones Gary posted.

So we've got similar issues on TI, AH, Mweb and WA. Really weird...they aren't even using the same cables and their infrastructure isn't shared either (at least the intl one). What the hell is going on?:wtf:

Weird thing is I can still browse to www.cnn.com...its just a bit slow.

Yeah also using capped account,every1 i know using uncapped hasn't had problems.

Weirdness here too

Noticed it yesterday, whilst playing ladder matches in SC2. 2-3 times per match I would get a "Waiting for Server" message (this equates to about every 10 minutes) and then the connection would be restored and I can continue playing (for 10 minutes).

This isn't confined to International though either; I lose all external communication (DNS, Ping, the works) when this happens. According to my DSL modem the line and PPPoE connection stay up.

Pinging the private IP of my DSL modem I get 0% packet loss, but pinging the ISP 1st hop I get the following:

Code:
--- 41.132.28.1 ping statistics ---
449 packets transmitted, 426 received, 5% packet loss, time 448604ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 23.439/72.997/993.483/160.723 ms

This happens on my MWEB Uncapped 384k AND AfriHost Unshaped, Prepaid accounts so I dont think it is the ISP but most likely Telkom.

Noise and Attenuation seem fine:

Code:
Noise Margin (Upstream) 18.0 db
Noise Margin (Downstream) 35.5 db
Attenuation (Upstream) 16.5 db
Attenuation (Downstream) 37.5 db

Could it be an/the IPC?

Tests conducted in Pretoria East.

Very tempted to say thats an unrelated issue. What are the error stats on the router like? And also sync speed?

No error stats available on the router I'm afraid, but here are the sync speeds:

Code:
Upstream 128 kbps
Downstream 384 kbps

So everything seems like it should be 100%.

Very tempted to say thats an unrelated issue.

I'm not following? The packet loss shows that "downtime" occurred and roughly how long it lasted for, as the packet loss starts at the exact same time that connectivity (browsing, etc.) stops. And vice-versa.
