I've heard of relationships when one partner is introvert and the other extrovert.

How does this work successfully? I know there is supposed sacrificce, but isn't the change simply too much for either one? Won't the extrovert get bored eventually - and the introvert annoyed?

I wonder if these opposite relationships can last 2+ years ....

My wife and I have been married for 8 and together for nearly 10 years it does work but then you also have problems understanding each other. It's easier for the introvert to understand the extrovert than the other way around, but yes it is fine as long as you both understand what the other needs and manage the relationship. Although we did have to go see a "therapist" as my wife thought my introvert behaviour was due to me not loving her ?

Jip. Besides no person is JUST an introvert or JUST an extrovert... you are both, just one side is dominant.

Probably better than with the opposites ;)

Extroverts can party together ; introverts can watch DVD's together ;)

I don't think that intro vs extro is really important. It does come into play when you have disagreements and in terms of how things are dealt with in heated exchanges but it's all part of getting to know how you work together as a couple.

Don't know how many relationships you've had, but it simply feels better to be in a relationship with someone who is not your carbon copy, temperament wise.

My GF is a introvert and I'm more the extrovert than anything - it works well.

What's the saying... opposites attract?!? :)

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

The introvert does seem to become a bit more out going and the extrovert a little less.

All about balance. My relationship lasted 4 years ;)

In the end it all comes down to communication. And if you're an extrovert, you'll have to learn more than just verbal communication :p

My fiancee is an extrovert and I'm the introvert and it works really well for us.

She does most of the talking and I love listening to the conversations and summing up people. Every now and then I'll add my bit to the conversations.
She's not frustrated by it and she likes asking me about people or what they said afterwards to confirm what she senses.

It will be a real problem though if neither person fully accepts their partner for who they are. If they try to force the other to change then it's going to be one slippery slope down to a pit of misery.

No i flippin hate it man, my fiancee is always wanting to go and do shyte.

We had a huge fight in December and i basically told her that i am sick of being dragged to every event we get invited to and if this relationship is going to work when i say i am not going leave it at that and go by yourself.

To be honest, I thought the above would happen more often than not - especially long term ;)

However it seems the opposite is true in most cases.

Killadoob an introvert? I would never have thought so since your posting style seems anything but. Like you state your opinion quite blatantly on these forums - there is no "beating about the bush" with your statements. You say it as it is or how you see it.

Introverted doesn't mean you don't have an opinion and deeply care what others think. It's probably the other way around.

Introvert / Extrovert combination probably work because they excel at different areas. The extrovert handles public facing responsibilities and the extrovert handles behind the scenes stuff.

Socially they probably compromise, but like mentioned, even an introvert wants to get out the box sometimes :)

What do you mean, I'm an introvert, loves gothic/metal/industrial/world music, loves to read, love my computer games and D&D and I don't dance at all.
While my wife is an extrovert, loves r&b and that type of music, don't play computer games, think rpg is weird, don't read at all and loves to dance.
The music can sometimes lead to a bit of tension, she started reading now and she is still trying to get me to dance.
But the movies we agree on most of the time.
See, heaven, the perfect couple:D:D
