Invalid Traffic fine - help!

Hey Rickster, here is an interesting conundrum for you to figure out. Are you or the cop fitting the licence disc... and on the inside or the outside of the window?

The licence disk should be on the drivers left otherwise the cop would be in the road...which is unsafe.

So the correct place for the disk to be be is on the drivers left

Which is also the left of the car, universally... Otherwise we will confuse ourselves way too much, like you just did.

I was not at all confused the statement OP said "The fine is for 'license disc not being on the left hand side" but someone could query "whose left".

Do you understand?

I understand just fine... and I was not saying you are confused, but that you might be confusing the masses (ourselves)...

You'd best check your grammar there.

It's always going to be the drivers left. Why would anyone think any different?

3 pages and the op did not even reply.

Rather talk about the ref for yesterdays springbok game. :)

6. (1) The owner of a motor vehicle shall display a licence disc or licence and roadworthy certificate disc, whichever the case may be, issued in respect of such motor vehicle--

if the motor vehicle is fitted with a transparent windscreen, by affixing it on the LOWER left hand corner in such a manner that the print on the face of the licence disc or licence and roadworthy certificate disc, whichever the case may be, is clearly legible from the outside to a person standing in front or to the left front of such vehicle;
Some vehicles are fitted with non-transparent windscreens?

Some vehicles are not fitted with windscreens...

You're going to have to pay, R200 isn't much anyway.

I agree, but it's the pettiness of it that's all. I pay enough without having to suck up silly stuff like this. I'd just driven 4000 km, through many roadcheck, with no one pointing out the error, and here I get hammered right outside my little country store. This is purely a principle matter.

He sucked!! And NOW they're making a noise about it - too late for our boys after playing most of the game with 14 players!

Assuming you have no other fines outstanding and the fine has only just been issued you can fire off a letter to the Public Prosecutor politely expressing your indignation and there's a good chance you'll get a "slap on the wrist" letter in response and the fine quashed.

The PE Public Prosecutor has decided in my favour in the past in respect of "letter of the law" type tickets issued by over-zealous traffic wardens when my vehicle was parked unattended but don't leave it until the court date act now :)

No, no other fines. will take your advice, thanks.

This is a nitpicking excuse to issue a ticket. Just stand in the street and look at all the unroadworthy cars and lorries driving past, as well as inconsiderate drivers, not stopping at stop streets, going through red lights, etc

My point exactly. which is why I don't even want to pay up a measly R200

Not only on the drivers left, but at the BOTTOM of the screen, the top is illegal, even if it's in full view and transparent.
