Invalid Traffic fine - help!

RHD, I think you are missing my point, is the licence disk supposed to be on the cops left or the drivers left...

The drivers left. This will enable the traffic cop to stand safely on the sidewalk, or simply out of oncoming traffic, while reviewing your licence disc.

Not only on the drivers left, but at the BOTTOM of the screen, the top is illegal, even if it's in full view and transparent.
IIRC when the Transvaal introduced the BCD 123T style provincial licence system back in the 80's the "Lick & Stick" rectangular licence had to be attached behind the rearview mirror (at the top, middle of the windscreen).

Anyone recall if this actually was the case?

Edit: Given the propensity of the initial batch of "Lick & Stick" licences to peel off due to faulty glue, attaching it close to the demister vents was probably the worst thing you could do :)

I would love to hear you explain this principle.

Ok, - the fine says : not displayed on the left hand side. It was. The fine says - not transparent. It was. Why should I pay a fine if neither of those statements are true, no matter how small? the apathy of South Africans to 'just pay up, it's not much' is what screws us all over.

Geez, but your disc was displayed at the top of the windscreen. Stop playing the victim...

No dude. You're in the wrong here.

It clearly states bottom, left of the windscreen. Any where else is just illegal. It's just R200 bucks - pay up and stop moaning.

Actually it's people's inability to take responsibility when they know they are wrong that screws us all over.

But go ahead, you're within your rights to contest this. And I would guess your fine will be reduced to nothing too.

you don't get it - that's not what the fine was issued for...... but done now - thanks to the peeps who gave advice.

They probably have some pre-defined reasons that a system spits out. Instead of saying bottom-left, it simply says left. Now be a good citizen and pay your fine.
