Inverter and batteries

I have based my setup on total off grid systems that have been running for 2 years or more. So I have used actual data. I have explained that it is not being used as a grid tied system. I am going to use the inverter as it is designed to be used. It is designed to be a hybrid inverter meaning that it accepts multiple inputs of power, can prioritise charging of batteries for any of the sources and deliver regulated power. People have varying ideas on what grid-tied means. That is where confusing comes in.

Please read my previous posts and then please explain what you mean. The system I finally based mine on is a total off grid solar system with a 50kva generator that supplements the system when solar can't keep up (i.e. weather or heavy demand when there are visitors). There is no difference between utility and generator input. The person running the system has his set to utility priority and solar secondary so that, when he fires up the generator, the system prioritises charging from utility input which is and can be greater than a pv input.

I posted this link sometime ago as i have 10 batteries in parallel and all the same age, and the ones in the middle gave problems.
When i went with method 3 like in this article no more batteries getting drained for no reason (well the reason is internal resistance over the wires).
But Ja, 3 years now and my battery bank is still very very happy with every single cable exactly the same length :thumbsup:

I bought one a few months ago and am very happy with it. It even has a connection to connect a solar panel too if you don't want to charge from the mains.
saw someone earlier today talking about that puppy.
If i had nothin and had to start from scratch i would buy that puppy in a heartbeat.

It's been working overtime the last few days. I've been effortlessly powering my ADSL router, laptop, TV, android media player, surround sound speakers and cellphone charger.

nice, now just add a 100w solar panel and it will trickle charge as well while load shedding during the day, should get around 8 amps into that puppy at 12 volts (4 amps @ 24 volts) if that built in charger is MPPT.
Worse case scenario it isnt but you will still get about 5.5 amps at 12v into it (2.75A @24). Do you know what size max the solar input can be?

The max solar input is 50A, so you can hook up quite a few in parallel.
 
Unfortunately the fibre provider I use only has 12 - 18 hours worth of battery backups. So even if I have power from my backup power, my internet goes down before my router does.... as Trump would say, sad.

if we have blackouts/loadshedding lasting longer than 12-18hrs i think the last of my worry in this country is having internet

I lived through that, 2016 and parts of 2017 in Wilgeheuwel. The suburb one side had a massive influx of townhouses pop up and the substation couldn't handle the load. On top of the constant cable theft in 2016 that would also pop the substation, we'd go out roughly 4 times a month for up to 18 hours and my inverter and battery setup would last about 12 hours for just a 50" TV and the decoder.
