Inverter Types

Hi MBB,

I’ve come across off-grid and hybrid inverts that are wall mount types, are there any that are strictly battery backup? I.e. use battery power during load shedding and use AC when the grid is back online at the same time charging the battery.

I know hybrid inverters do this, but haven’t come across the latter.

It looks to me like you have just described what 99% loadshedding related inverter installation do, use battery when there is no mains and then bypass back to AC and charge the battery when power comes back.

So you're basically looking for a big, wall-mount UPS?

Not sure why you'd want that rather than a hybrid inverter though, not much cheaper and much more limited in terms of what it can do.
