So a relative of mine, a little over a year ago, bough a Kingstar 5KVA inveter from China mall. She got this alongside one of those 24V 100Ah batteries.

This was hooked by a qualified electrician cousin of mine who isn't so much certified to do solar installations.

A few months in the added solar panels. The electrician reccomneded they add just 2 units (450W each). This obviously did not supply enough power. So I got them to add 3 more and he installed them. But during the period just before he could add the 3 units, the screen on the inveter died and now he is claiming he cannot configure the inveter to fully utilise all 5 panels without a working screen.

Since warrany isn't an option, over a year after buying, any ideas on how I can get the screen fixed? I've tried to install some software on my PC to see if I can configure the inveter via the software but no luck so far.

Any help is appreciated.

If it is a voltronic axpert (many different ones are rebranded axperts) it may work via usb cable (printer cable)
If it has usb port if it has a different port you will need a rs-485/rs-232 adapter

For off-grid type inverter try watchpower

For hybrid try solarpower

Normally there isn't different settings per se for different quantity of panels

A lot depends on exactly what type the inverter is how to get the most out of the panels

The off grid ones takes more finesse , the hybrid ones much easier

The screens tend to be a loose item connected to the board via a ribbon ,so easy exchange if you can get a screen replacement

But yea would say as champ says , check for loose connection first
