So my wife's iPhone 5s decided to stop charging after the latest update. Tried charging it on the laptop but it won't even get recognised in Windows. It says the following:

Any ideas? I'm googling as well.

Thank you in advance!

I’m going to guess you just had unfortunate timing and the battery is in fact kaput.

Doubt it. I see many similar issues on the web which was solved by changing windows settings. I just checked and it is charging very slowly on the pc even though it says it is not detected.

Well then charge it overnight on a wall socket before attempting to plug it into windows.

You could backup to iCloud?
I just did this :D Thank goodness for iCloud. It'll take a while but I don't care. As long as the data is saved. Thanks!

Doesn't work with plug but charging very slowly on the pc. All good. It's up to 76% now.

All the more reason I think your battery is dead then.

Would love to see what Battery Life says.

Well, this is weird. There was nothing wrong with the cable, as I used it to charge another iPhone. She then found her other cable, used that and suddenly the phone charges only on that cable :wtf:

Anyway, all good for now.

Is it a 3rd party cable? I’ve noticed that some 3rd party cables don’t play nice with my 7 plus but work fine on my wife’s 6s.

Glad it’s sorted though

Thanks. Indeed. Weird thing is that the 3rd party cable still charges the iPad Air 2 on the latest update...
