ios 4.2

OK, I downloaded IOS 4.2.1_8C148 and was busy doing a Restore / Update when the following error message popped up.

iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error has occurred (2003)

Have restarted my XP Pro machine, disabled AVG and checked USB port. Will swop to different port next.

Are you running iTunes 10.1?

Also, get yourself Microsoft Security Essentials. Has never interfered when I'm doing iPhone updates.

Never had this problem before ...... have had various other problems, but this is a big one !

I am being punished by Apple for merely thinking of jailbreaking my phone?

Have Apple 10.1.0.56

Ok, then you should be ok.

Mmm...almost sounds like the *restore.ipsw file is corrupted in some way? What's the size of the file? 322MB? That's what it should be.

Went and looked for my old tattered USB cable en plugged it. Seems to be working now. Can see a progress bar on the phone for the restore.

Holding thumbs and toes.

Were you using a Kong Foo cable with your iPhone? Shock horror.

But for the iOS itself I am impressed - was very worried that the 3G wouldn't handle it.

Same here!

Must take my hat off to Apple. I've got a 2 year 2 month old iPhone 3G that still feels snappy with the latest update. Cheers Apple! :)
