iOS 7.1 released.

Has anyone elses battery life gone to complete **** with 7.1?

My battery used to last me two days on 7.0.6, now I don't even get 12 hours :(

I noticed faster battery drain too on iPad 3rd gen (1st retina model).

After about a week, I can safely say that battery life was tops on iOS6 and deteriorated with subsequent updates. On 7.1, my phone went from 100% just past midnight to 31% by 8am this morning. The only activity is checking emails every fifteen minutes via POP while I was sleeping.

The phone is very new, a week prior to Xmas 2013.

It must be a feature not a bug. It's Apple's way of telling users that they need to upgrade their battery---- er whole device. :)

Sorry, I didn't see your post until today.
Hi,

I have looked at these things. Things like Multicast rate on the AEBS (set now to low), different channels and so on. I'm not happy with the performance of the AEBS. Compared to the MWEB Technicolor, the MWEB FON router has better range.
Which AE unit do you have btw? Apple design choice in the previous units i.e.
flat top box, is known to be a compromise between antenna attenuation and design.

Distance is usually counter to Speed, or more specifically as you increase distance from the router the worse your SNR will be, and subsequently the lower the network speed; also to note: the overall speed of the network is also be based on the weakest signal from a connected device.

AE routers allow you to configure the dual bands separately; have you done this? Do you have separate names for your 2Ghz and 5Ghz networks?

I don't have many networks around too. I have someone running an external Ubiquity thing but the signal is weak although all devices always pick it up.
Did you try the software I suggested to look for conflicts?

The update is terrible. When i use the original apple lightening cable, it says its not genuine. When i wake up in the morning I have a flat phone Annoyed much

"Sarcasm does not befit your beauty" as an old friend used to say, jokingly, of course. :D :D

I'm getting better battery life on a cellular iPad 4, 7.0.6 I was ending the day completely flat or around 10-15%, on 7.1 I find I have 20-30% left.

Did you do the update OTA or full download via iTunes?

You need to take your cable back to the company you purchased it from; there are unfortunately an occasional quality issue that will creep in, and the only solution is to insist on a replacement cable.

For example; I've previously experienced quality issues with newly purchased Apple HDMI and VGA cables bought at an iStore; returned them both for a replacement; problem solved.

Its the cable i received with the phone - almost a year ago if not already a year. Its only since the OTA upgrade. I reckon I must do the itunes route

My son did his 5S via iTunes and so did I with my 5. He has no issues. Only my iPhone 5 that suffers in battery dept. Otherwise, 7.1 works quite well.

Worth the attempt; I have my doubts it'll make any difference. If that fails I'd still recommend you push for a replacement re it was the 7.1 update that caused the problem i.e. Apple's fault.

OTA. Think that could be the problem?

Yes, in my experience.

I did an OTA to one of the 7.0.x updates and had terrible battery life (like 10% per hour just in standby). I did it again using iTunes and it was a huge improvement.

Why so big? It ate my nite surfer as well as bitten deeply into my day bundle. It was supposed to have been 214 meg.
OTA update is ~250Mb, that's the size of the full install.

No, the OTA is not the full install, the full install via iTunes is around 1.2GB.
