iOS 7.1 released.

The update broke a game I had. Had to reinstall it. But lost all DLC. This will teach me to buy DLCs on iOS devices.

I'd suggest you contact the game developer as they are required to honor all past in game purchases.

I contacted Apple. Apple said it's a consumable so they would not refund. Developer is silent.

They are not really required to honour anything as long as Apple get's paid. Moral of the story is, not to buy IAPs at all.

I can tell you it's not the case; I've personally dealt with some of these issues with Apple & a app's Developer.

IAPs transactions can relate to both increased functionality and consumables (for example: in game cash, achievements, ...);

To restore IAP additional functionality / features, the developer is supposed to provide an in app mechanism (button) to check if the customer's iTunes account has already made this purchase; this btw is a standard API feature provided by Apple, the implementation is however up to the developer.

As to IAP consumables, level progress, achievements, etc... this is stored in the game's data files on the device, and the backup/restore of this data to iCloud / Gamecenter is the sole responsibility of the developer.

In most cases I've found that the problem was either that the customer did not backup to iCloud, or that's there can be bugs in the app, or even that the developer never added code to facilitate this backup / restore.

Sometimes the iCloud restores can also fail (bugs); the only way to reattempt is some cases is to delete the app, and to download the app again; as some developers only check for restores after a new installation.

In either case I'd suggest you keep trying to get hold of the developer.

POS software update has messed up my battery life. IOS is the best eco system my hairy butt. most disappointed. thought apple had their ducks in a row with respect to software updates and stuff. doesn't even last a whole day anymore. so over it already.

Do a restore and set up as new, and check your battery use, next day restore your back up and check again. I found the Google app was sucking the life out of a 5s after a restore last week. Just disabling the app doubled the battery life.

Yip its notorious for draining your battery; the Google Now part over taxes location services. Easy fix, delete the app.

That was my method of fixing it as well ;).

Don't have either of those apps. Background refresh is off so puzzled what is running the battery down.

If you look at the Arstechnica review I posted earlier in this thread; you'll see that iOS 7.1 has unfortunately been shown to be worse re battery life.

Yet some Apps like Google Search tend to make it even worse: so also look for those that for example: utilize location services, ...

I did a reset on my phone. Battery life is very inconsistent.

On Friday night, I left home at 8pm with 100% battery life. By 1am it was dead.

On Saturday, I left home at 2pm with 100% battery life and it only ended up dying at 5am on Sunday morning.

I actually used the phone more on Saturday and the battery lasted 3 times longer.

Also on Friday I had the screen brightness turned all the way down.

There is something really wrong. Close all your apps, set your email to fetch manually and deactivate all auto updates, etc.

What I've noticed is that if you are in a bad reception area, the Apple battery drops quickly.
