iOS 7 Release Today (18 September)

I have a Iphone 4S, my wifi has been grayed out for more than a few month, cannot enable it... Tried reinstalling ios 6.1.3, ext ext... iFIX would have charged me R450 to 'fix' the WIFI, after ios 7 update it now works again...

Guy at MTN said it was water damage... I told the guy my phone is always in its sleeve, NEVER near water... He then asked if I ever showered with my phone close to the bathroom, I told him our on-suite bathroom is next to the bedroom, so yes... He then when on to say that it is due to water damage from the damp in the room... EISH!!!

Though I'd share :D

To be honest I haven't looked at it. Is it worth the $$? I'm also over media servers. Front-end needs to do the work from a SMB or NFS share. Anyway getting a bit OT here :)

Staying off topic :)

Plex is most definitely worth the money, especially if you have a decent internet connection at home (at least 1Mbit upload speed). I have access to my entire media library (around 8TB) on my iPad anywhere where I have an internet connection. On the local network I can stream 1080p video over the wifi with no issues whatsoever.

Takes a little time and effort to get setup but once it is everything is smooth sailing.

The standard excuse is water damage.

iOS 7 on an iPad 4 is just a huge waste of space. The folders are huge and only show 9 icons, large gaps between icons. Newstand app looks horrible. The rest is ok but they need to redesign there other apps like iBooks, Trailers, iPhoto etc to fit in with the rest. Looks odd with half the icons flat and others are not. The new icons for the apple apps are just plain and ugly.

Did the upgrade through direct download, through my work network. Worked first time on my 4S. Might wait a while before trying the iPad 2.

Whatever. Too impatient. Will probably do iPad through work network this afternoon. :)

Icons are definitely a big clash. But app developers will hopefully start rolling out icon updates systematically ;)

Oh, btw - once I've updated via direct dowload - can I trash the ispw file? Or would iTunes still look for it periodically?

You could delete it, but if you ever needed to do a fresh install you'd have to download it again.

Aw shucks...

So ja - was too impatient. Downloaded the iPad 2 ispw file - and upgraded. Backed-up first.
90% of the way through the upgrade - error message about how iTunes couldn't complete the upgrade. Error #6.
Tried to reset and nothing. Pulled the cable out - and put it back in.

iTunes immediately said it has detected a iPad in restore mode. The message says something to the effect of "Are you sure you want to restore the iPad to its f
factory settings?" All your media and other data will be erased etc. etc."

This is my first restore. Could someone please shed some light on what I risk losing, data wise? If I backed-up to my Mac first - would this put everything back as it was? I'm specifically a bit nervous about documents "inside" some of my Notetaking apps... Am I going to lose these?

I would *really* welcome some suggestions asap, before I do anything further...

If you backed up first you should be fine. Do the restore to factory settings. Besides once you are in recovery mode you don't have much choice other than going with a factory restore.

Thanks. I realised that - restore or bust. Almost done with it - holding fingers it's as proficient as Time Machine was...

Just upgraded my phone. First impression is refreshing,

LOVE the control center...

...HATE the springboard effect.

updated my iphone 4 this morning, few app updates installed and works like a charm. loving the new interface, also feels faster and the battery seem to last longer. normally by this time im at 20%, well i still got 50% left.

Oh thank all that is sweet and beautiful in the world!!! Restore worked a charm. Everything exactly where it was, down to the very last scribble on my annotated pdf's! I am one *very* happy camper!

Stupid stupid email client.
Instead of mark as unread they swapped it with move to trash!
B@stards :)

Is there an ios7 discussion thread?
Tips and new features?
I suspect there will be a 7.0.1 soon.
