Shot for the Intel; one (dumb) question. You/I then have $9.99 credit in account & opt in for the *Free* Trial. No money gets deducted; even though it "looks" like it does?

yup 100%, nothing deducted and you can cancel the "auto renew" before the 3 months is up.

I spent a great deal of time tailoring for my tastes, which included deleting artist bubbles that I don't like, and I haven't come across one playlist with local or african content. It's been pretty great for me thus far with a minimal amount of skips. It can only better as it learns my listening habits more.

As far as content goes there is not much difference between the 2 stores.

That's great intel.

Going to play around with the GF's phone later (she is on the SA store) and do a side by side comparison.

All the other services like Rdio and Simfy that I've tried have way to much SA focused local content and I prefer the US libraries for alternative and rock. Guess it comes with the territory.

However, at R59 it's unbeatable.

Switching to SA though and I'll lose my Spotify app which isn't available yet.

And based on my initial tests the Spotify UI and curated playlists are still vastly better than what apple music (hello: Beats) is showing me. Maybe that will improve.

Great to see apple getting with the streaming music times though - I'm sure they will introduce new features and refine the offering.

I did yes. Still got a lot of SA content. I am going to stay with the US store for the time being.
I prefer their playlist and activity lists etc.

Busy uploading my library to iCloud at the moment so I can see the saved music from my phone on my pc too.

Pity this does not have a web interface... that would have sealed the deal for me!

You will never get rid of the South African braai, rugby and house party playlists unfortunately.

Sad times :(

But man for R59 on the SA store it's a bloody steal, like Apple giving an aid package to Africa.

It'll do well. But for apple, the UIX is very busy.

Yeah R59 vs $9.99 ~ R121.76...impressed!

I need to add a few $ & then I can partake in the US option.

I don't like the Music App now, still prefer Tidal and Deezer a close second. Both have great mobile apps and web interfaces as far as I'm concerned.

Now that we've all had more time to play with it, can anyone offer any more info regarding music variety on SA version? I've been using the USA version and am really impressed with the selection and will gladly pay a premium for it, provided there is in fact a fair difference between the offerings in both stores.

What service you guys use to add a credit card to your US iTunes account? I have always had an account with no credit card on file but now when I try sign up for the free 3 month trial, it asks me to load a card - any suggestions?

I don't have it linked to a credit card, but I have store credit that I get by buying vouchers from the USA or wildtwig.com.

Hi - maybe I can offer a view.

I tested side by side last night with my GF's phone. She being on the SA store and mine on the US.

There is a significant difference, but only those who set out to seek it would notice.

For example, I tried the following artist searches:
- Live
- Dave Matthews Band
- James Horner (classical music scores)
- Counting Crows

Consistently, there were far less albums in the SA store than the US, with the latter having far more "special" and "live" albums.

For James Horner, the SA catalogue contained around 50% of the US, this was by far the worst.

Don't get me wrong, I'd say all the major albums are like for like.

But you get what you pay for, the SA version has less, and costs less as a result.

I suspect there might be a rollout of stuff still at play in non-US countries and maybe SA is just playing catchup.

There are things like TOOL which is in the iTunes Store but no in the Streaming service for instance.

In that other thread people were saying how Google Play is so much better since it has Metallica...but my Apple Music has Metallica. So was it added later or were those people wrong in the first place?

But anything that isn't there you'll be able to upload yourself anyway.

Loving it so far I must say, end of piracy for me I will gladly pay. Just wish there was an option to store offline by default as you listen to songs, would same massively on bandwidth.

Dave Matthews Band by example is one I looked at and followed and the selection seemed just fine to me? Granted I didn't do a 1:1 comparison but there was more than I could ever need on the SA store.
