I've had my 3GS 16Gb for almost a month now, and I'm on 3.1.3 (all synced with Cydia etc) I'm so tempted to upgrade to iOS4 but I'm also hesitant... What too do?

Upgrade

I have been on it since 4 got released and just upgraded to 4.0.2

look its still a bit unstable and you might have to reboot your phone once a month or so but camera works a lot better and multitasking is cool and all the other features even my battery lasts longer now

You will also be able to use the ios 4 apps

You might wanna backup all your stuff on Cydia first. Especially you SHSH blobs. Also I don't know if you can easily Jailbreak 4.0.2. For this reason you might wanna download 4.0.1 and install that instead.

I upgraded and then downgraded my 3G when iOS4 was released, was just too slow! but I'm missing the landscape lock etc :) and the other tweaks... maybe I will give it a go again tonight! What would you recommend for the jailbreak? Jailbreakme.com or SPIRIT or other :) (too lazy too search at the moment :) )

SHSH's are backed up on Cydia :)

... I did it... bit the bullet, downloading 4.0.1 and the jailbreakme.com :) all apps still working, a little slower but still fun :)

I have noticed signal strength drop on iOS4, in areas where I had great signal before it is now down by 1-2 bars.

I haven't found a non Mac jailbreak for IOS4 for my 3GS to date. Nothing in IOS4 to rave about. Program folders... woot... Task manager... wooot...

Remember they have changed the signal strength meter in iOS4. It is more linear now, and each bar integer is represented by a different value than the past iOS. I think it is to stop the meter from showing a drop on the meter when holding the phone in your hand. This does not mean that your phone has suddenly become deaf, or the receive front end any less sensitive, it is just a bit more stingy with dishing out bars on the display (especially the last two bars)

I downloaded 4.0.1 from a link on iClarified, shift restored and then used jailbreakme.com

@ surfs-up thanks for the heads up, that's the lines I was thinking along.
