iPad 20MB limit over 3G?

+1

Android, has alternative marketplaces, and Wi-Fi access is not universely available or free, and why must the customer be forced to go to extra expense, and inconvience for a senseless limit, imposed by the phone manufacturer.

iFolk have a slightly different way of thinking to the rest of us - you won't get through to them ;)

Agreed, time to close this thread too...

True.

But with 5000+ views and 200+ replies between this thread and the article, one can see I'm not the only one that's a little miff at this particular restriction and can see many feel the same way. At least now many people know what to expect when they collect heir iPad.

I'm also happy Jannie posted within the thread so we got the indication that it was not the networks at first believed - so IMO it was all in all a decent thread

Oh and bwana - I've posted feedback ...

I've just been notified by one of guys here that the 20mb limitiation over 3g has been removed in IOS5. Facetime is still not enabled though, but there are a couple of apps aparently that will help in getting facetime to work over 3g.

a quick google confirms his statement, yay!

I've been using iOS5 since it was released and the restriction is still in place - are you referring to a future update?

Same here. Tested this on an iPhone running the latest iOS5 release and got the same result as under iOS4.

Welcome news, if true - which version of iOS might I ask?

very sorry :( and now I am back at square one, i just hope my mom doesnt hit that limit. though I didnt have a problem with the zinio magazine I downloaded.

I got a new ipad 4 10 days ago. in addition i got a micro sim from 8ta. However are battling to setup the hotspot on my ipad. None of the setup buttons are available? I logged a complaint on hello peter last night. Was very impressed with the response time. However the instructions they have sent me did not work because i did not have the options on my ipad? Their respone on that was: "we just had confirmation that the ipad does not support hotspot". I queried that but since then they have ignored me!!! I have googled for the last week already but get no answer either! Hoping someone on My Broadband can assist me.

Unfortunately our operators haven't cracked the Apple nod for iPad hotspot support.

One of our forumites has figured out a way around it, though: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ot-amp-tethering-working-on-your-iPad-3rd-gen
