Any idea why Mr Jobs decided to implement this?

Says I should connect to wireless or iTunes to download - yet I have the bandwidth on my 3G

Blame AT&T... seems their network was crappy when that decision was made.

Get yourself a MiFi / 3G Router (no need for micro-sims and you can share your bandwidth)...

Live with it (you are already used to a "hampered" iOS experience) - Flamesuit on :)

Yea - blame Flash developers, blame the networks, blame the user, blame the government ... ;)

I have a 10GB cap on my wi-fi which I hit a few days ago. I have a remaining 1GB on my 3G .... and I thought I'd use that for a few days. Evidently not though - so stuck with a '3G' iPad that can't download.

If you have a phone able to provide a WiFi hotspot, just swop the sim into the phone... do that often when I have spare 3G data and want to download apps larger than 20MB.

I don't have an iPhone and nothing supports the mini SIM

20meg is a single connection?? Wtf apple!!why on earth would you do this to people who pay for their cap

Is this true on all networks? And how is it implemented - you can't download more than 20 MB in one session, in one month, in one file...?

It's per file.

Well, then it shouldn't influence browsing or email. As for apps - most I'm looking at are smaller than 20 MB.

This "getting ready" for when mine comes is getting fun! ;)

Jailbreak when you can and then get the cydia app called my3g to turn that 20meg nonsense off. Atleast thats what I've read.

Please help.

I have a microsim with 3g in the iPad, I also have a wireless network at home. Everytime I leave home i have to switch wireless off, so I can connect through 3G. Is there anyway that i can still use 3g connectivity if in wireless range of my router and having wireless set to ON?

thanks!

If you have your iPad on (wireless) and a 3G card as well - how would it know what you actually want to use though?

JB + SB Settings - 1 swipe and you can disable/enable loads of things including wifi.

Otherwise there is probably an app that sets preferred connection...

I've just thought of something :

Can't one make the iPad a wireless hotspot - then connect to it via my PC (wifi) and download apps that way?

EDIT : Nevermind - it can't do that
