Hey hey

I have an ipod, I do not use iTunes, but yamipod instead. It is easy to put new music on it with yamipod, just open its little transfer window and drop the mp3s onto this.

Maybe she can give it a go?

You're not reading between the lines ;)

So a friend asked me tonight if I have an older version of itunes, because she is unable to sync her ipod with the latest version of itunes.

I told her that I've had my two years with itunes and my iPhone 3G and not interested in anything ipad, iPhone, etc related.

But then she told me that she gave her ipad away, because of the itunes crap and that she really just wants to put some music on her ipod.

My question is....should I offer to help her, or just tell her to try and figure it out on her own?

Damn Bevonk!, I'm tearing my hair out.

She really wants help, but she is a financial manager, not an IT support engineer.

I want to help her, but I made a pledge never to install itunes on my pc again. Dunno how to help her. :(

How is installing iTunes on your pc going to help her?

She doesnt have a pc at home, so I will have to do it for her, or try and explain the whole process to her.

And you know women, as soon as it's too complicated, they just throw it in the bin.

Point is where is this music library located that she is unable to sync her ipod with?

Cause she doesn't have a pc but has an ipod without any music synced to it but she wants kingrob to help by installing iTunes on his pc?? To what end?? As soon as the ipod is connected to kingrob's pc iTunes will erase and sync, sync kingrobs music library (assuming he has one) to the ipod....??

Yeah, she had better stick to cut and paste solutions then...

Ubuntu Live CD or
In Windblows maybe look for Transcopy oh and copytrans can get em off the iPod if needed (There is portable versions)

I use Rhythmbox to sync my iMedia in Linux works like a dream even with Apple DAAP support, and Nautilus mounts all the iOS applications as seperate folders so can copy files directly into the app folders.

Will never see iTunes again... I am just glad 5.x cut the final strings so no more needed for updates either.

Edit: Think I am now gonna start going like the Apple Mac users, dont blame the app/device, blame your OS :p

I've just synced a 2004/5 iPod Photo using the latest version of iTunes. Could her iPod be broken? Or is it perhaps older than mine?

This thread just reminded me how much I wrestled and hate itunes software - especialy when using multiple devices

Always wondered how newbies and non IT people have to figure out that they have to download and configure itunes before they can use their shiny new toy

There must be millions of unused ipods in drawers everywhere ;-)

I've never had issues with Apple hardware or software. iTunes is great imo.
