So I have a few months left on my iPad 2 16GB with FNB, and want to upgrade to the 4th gen, 64GB. Someone told me that if I go to the iStore I can get the new iPad within an hour instead of waiting for FNB's courier which could take more than a week. I have to of course pay off my balance of the current iPad before doing so, but this way I am guaranteed my colour choice and don't have to wait. Has anyone else gone through an iStore to take up the FNB offer yet?

Goodness.... Never occurred to me that one could 're-load/upgrade' the deal? Seriously? Have 6 months to go on my iPad 2... this could be very tempting...

Yeah I don't think I can wait for my contract to end to get the new iPad...I'm too impatient ;-) They say you can only have one device at a time, so as long as you no longer owe anything on the current device you can take another. I worked out I will lose about R300 by settling early (as they charge you the full price) but I will take the knock if it means I can "upgrade" sooner :-) Just hope they don't bring out a new iPad at the end of this year!

I went to iStore canal walk and took out the fnb contract in store...
Took about +- 30 minutes and left with iPad 4th gen.
Went to a coffee shop and had a cup and the guy from iStore gave me call to say that all is approved and that I can pick up the device. Very easy and painless process. The best part was that, at that time, fnb was sold out of the 4th gen (website). The lady from fhb call center advised me to go to the istore as they do have stock. Yes, you can choose the color and no waiting for delivery.

Why didnt you guys wait for the next iPad that "should" be released this year?

Why would you upgrade now when newer devices are just around the corner?

Then you might as well never upgrade as for each upgrade there will be a new device right around the corner.

actually a retina ipad mini is without a doubt something worth waiting for.

I agree, new tech is always around the corner but when current technology has a glaring omission then its definitely worth the wait.

The bigger iPad is also rumored to be considerably lighter which is also worthwhile considering that it hasn't decreased in weight since the iPad 2.

As far as I'm concerned, right now, its worth waiting.
