So I've been saving ebucks to buy an iPad 9 - Takealot had it for ~ R5500 the other day for the 64 GB Wifi version.

But I see they no longer sell it - which I now believe are due to stock shortages.

Furthermore I also noticed that the iStore now has a 4 - 6 week lead time on it:

Even the 256GB is out of stock with 4 weeks waiting time:

Does anybody know what is going on?

EDIT: probably the global chip storage, eh?

I wanted to argue that surely Apple can sort out supply of their own A and M chips, but then again, they are probably struggling to find some of the other chips used in these devices.

Message iStore on their site during working hours tomorrow to check if any of their stores have stock. I managed to get one when it said 4 to 6 weeks

Apple has confirmed that it will cut manufacturing of IPads to concentrate on iPhones only due to global chip shortage.

Ugh, I wonder if I should just go ahead and try and backorder one.

Is it worth it to add iCare + @ R599?

Have you tried Digicape? They much better than dealing with Core Group.
I took the iCare warranty.

I have a crapload of ebucks available, so it either has to be iStore or Takealot, unfortunately.

I did contact the iStore this morning via their chat - they say no stock available anywhere due to the global Apple stock shortages due to the chip shortage.
