iPad vs Android tablets: new stats for SA

Just that a new nightmare starts when you need to connect an iPad to your pc, It's called ITUNES!!!!
See how it tries to do an apple on your windows, ie do everything the way apple want it to work and not you. Slow your boot times, connect to the internet all the time and consume all your memory.

wait a minute...that Arthur Goldstuck guy gave a whole presentation on the sales of apple and samsung tablets?

I may be an idiot here..... but..... why?

While I find iTunes crap, it hasn't really interrupted my Windows experience anymore than Windows Updates. Do you accept iTunes as your default player? I just use it to backup and transfer.

I recon I'll be getting the iPad3 if FNB releases it soon - my first Apple devices

To many quality control issues or downfalls with the Android tablets.

Too many issues or downfalls with android??? I'd suggest you don't buy Android devices from "Bid or Buy" anymore.... :D
Apple = too many issues (eg itunes) and user downfalls!!! I know of a lot of friends who bought iPads only to sell them a few weeks later due to not using them as much as they said they would.

Exactly, I plug my iPhone in, iTunes starts, I sync what I need to sync and I close iTunes... that leaves me with an up to date iPhone with all my apps and music libraries up to date in under 10 minutes. It's not rocket science.

With both Android and Apple you need to connect to your computer to transfer files. The difference however is that with Android I can copy paste to my device same way I do with an external HD and place the files anywhere. I can then use any suitable app on my Android device to use/play the file. Not so with iOS. In iOS the file must go to a specific app and if that app isn't doing a great job and you want to use another app you have to reconnect to the PC to reload the file into another app. In iOS I have no control over my file system. This is not cool by a mile. With iOS 5 you still need iTunes (less so but still). With Android I need no software.

I am now of the opinion that iOS is old/outdated. Time for Apple to come with a new OS. Using Android convinced me of this.

I'm afraid you're also mistaken. I haven't transferred a file to an app via iTunes since forever.

Did they replace them with Android tablets? Nice sig btw.

I've transferred files over WiFi (not using iTunes). It still has to go to a specific app. When you connect to a PC with cable you have to use iTunes to get the file to the correct app. My issue is with the fact that one cannot copy paste in a general file system where any app on the device can pick it up.

I want to copy a movie file to my device once and then be able to use any movie player.

Really? I must be doing something wrong then because I just transferred a pdf over and I had my choice of apps to open it with.

Out of curiosity why would you need more than one movie player to watch a movie?

I went through 3 Samsung Galaxy 10.1", either dead pixels or newton rings, within one week.

Asus Transformer Prime - no 3G

Asus Transformer 3G - the promised release was continually delayed until I was no longer interested.

Android devices usually arn't very future proof when it comes to versions of the OS - and when they are, it takes the manufacturer months to update, if they bother... its usually easier to release another device.

And I don't use BidorBuy, they are crap when it comes to buyer support.

Oh - and I'm not a fanboy - hence, I can easily buy a iPad and be happy, I've seen various tablets, and the iPad is much more responsive and user friendly.
