Was really hoping they'd release the 13 with fingerprint reader support given that they have the tech active in the ipad already
Wife still using a 7+ due to not wanting to move to FaceID only
Face ID is brilliant though, it works fantastically well. Was really hoping they'd release the 13 with fingerprint reader support given that they have the tech active in the ipad already

That was a valid argument in the beginning. FaceID works like a charm. It was annoying when covid started with the mask wearing but then they solved that issue with the unlock in conjunction with the watch feature. No way I'm going back. Was really hoping they'd release the 13 with fingerprint reader support given that they have the tech active in the ipad already

Most of my usage is with my phone flat down, so FaceID would have me entering my code most of the time. That was a valid argument in the beginning. FaceID works like a charm. She was happy with her 7+ at the time the 8 was released - the generations have moved on by now though - and SE screen is too small (compared to the 7 plus)I have an iPhone 8 and don't have to use Face ID

Now that I have an Apple Watch too, I don't even have to take my mask off to unlock it. 10/10 would recommend.
Perhaps you should help her overcome the irrational dislike of FaceID. It's superior to touch ID in my opinion. Or at least as good. I would agree if it was an Android device, their Face Unlock kak is about as useful as a prestik padlock, but Apple do it really well. She was happy with her 7+ at the time the 8 was released - the generations have moved on by now though - and SE screen is too small (compared to the 7 plus)
Oh, I'm with you on this - I'm very happy with my FaceID - that said, I also have a watch - she doesn't want one
see above
So she's between a rock and a hard place - wants the size of the 7 plus screen; wants TouchID; doesn't want an Android phone; loves Apple Pay; doesn't like FaceID (not logical, I know) - so she's going to have to stick with the 7 plus until her need for a newer phone outweighs her dislike of FaceID (or Apple release a new gen phone in a plus size with Touch ID....)
You'd be surprised at how many people regard TouchID as a deal breaker for a new phone - my brother who is in the medical profession upgraded to the SE for the same reason - it had TouchID and the iPhone 12 didn't, and he wears a mask the entire day.
I'll be carrying on with Samsung for the foreseeable.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. But do make sure you included a fingerprint reader.Samsung? You have really low ambitions?
I have no issues with FaceID on mine, it just works fantastically, sometimes at angles I wouldn't expect it to.Did FaceID get better with the newer phones? I have an XR and I feel like I get annoyed with FaceID more times than I should...even with a watch (that helps tremendously though). Would love a TouchID comeback but no chance in hell I'm afraid.
