I found this annoying too, there's a toggle in camera settings that shows the macro indicator in the camera app, so you can disable/enable it.
Thank you kind sir.
Toggled on and sorted.

Can you remember where you saw them for R3,000? That’s not too bad…Considering they were R3000-R3500 for the last few months it’s quite a jump
@Gazbal I would also recommend the 13 ProThe 13 pro then. I wouldn’t suggest the 14 base model.
I concur. I use my phone more than my watch now to quickly see the time. Also great for notifications and seeing my AirPods Max battery.Said above that I like the Always On feature.....
Let me amend that - I freaking LOVE IT!
Just sat down at my PC and after a few mins realised that I always put the phone down within line of sight - being able to see the time at a glance just 'works' for me.
Whatever battery drain there may be is worth it for me.

What do the battery settings show using the most battery? Maybe something can be reigned in. I've had my 14PM since Friday and the battery life seems about the same as the 13PM was for me.The battery on my 14 Pro Max was unimpressive on its first day on full duty. Had me down to 2% by day end. I've never had to enter power-saving mode on my 13 Pro Max....
I hope its just the battery entering prime chemistry?

So does the SA \ international version of the iPhone 14 Pro have a physical sim or is it also e-sim only? I recall the Apple event specifically stated the the US versions of the iPhone 14 range would be e-sim only.
We get a physical sim, which begs the question if the 15 is going to be e-sim in all markets?
Congratulations, sounds like you are enjoying your new beast!I'm quite surprised at how much heavier the 14Pro feels compared to the 12 - weighed both with their cases on and the 12 clocks in at 188g, the 14P is 240g. My wife's 13 is 204g.
Interestingly, the screen seems a touch brighter on the 12 - only noticeable when held side by side.
DI is very cool - love the indicators when there is audio in the background and the ability to switch to it with a quick tap. As others have noted I'm really looking forward to more use being made if it.
I do like the Always On mode since my phone also serves as a bedside clock.
The additional camera lens definitely will take a while to get accustomed to - found the switch to the macro lens when bringing objects close quite jarring initially.
The combination of absolute familiarity (phone to phone transfer was a cinch) with some new refinement and features is a joy.
I always find 256GB to be the best balance mixed with iCloud (I have 400GB iCloud).I also still download all my musicWent with the 256GB this year as I want to shoot in RAW mostly and the photos are 'yuUuge'

Curious to see how that feature isn't going to kill battery life. Android devices use a few pixels just for the clock and seem to use about 1% an hour.
Obviously the iPhone has way more efficient hardware but a screen is still a screen and having more pixels = more power used.
Source : https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_14_pro-review-2480p3.php#btWe did two identical standby tests - one with the AOD off, and another one with the AOD being always on. We captured a 9% battery drop in 16 hours for always off and 19% drop for 16 hours for always-on. Note that the AOD has different brightness according to the ambient light - it can be incredibly dim in dark environments, but it is brighter when you have the phone in broad daylight. And this should affect the battery life in different ways, so there is no way to put an exact number on it.
But, as far as general battery life is concerned, the best conclusion we could draw after using the iPhone 14 Pro for a week is that using AOD draws an average of 1% per every hour of standby.
Uh no? Music and YouTube gets streamed.I cloud is only applicable to some data. Music, YouTube etc takes up physical memory and gets full very quick.
Seems impossible. A huge portion of carriers worldwide do not support eSIM. If they’re so behind the times at this point, I guess they’d sooner drop iPhone than update their systems.
