iPhone 14 discussions

Would be a bad move, considering how much people spend on new iPhones every year. Would be much cheaper to upgrade their tech than to lose all those sales.
Apple would be taking the bigger risk. Currently you need to do your research on carriers that support eSIM if you plan to travel. Not that I don't support getting rid of silly technology. It could be entertaining if Apple announced that the 14 Series is the last generation to support physical sims, just to see the fallout from carriers worldwide.

Anyone been to the istore in Fourways yesterday or today, do they have stock of the 14 pro max 128gb, They cant seem to answer that question over the phone, they want me to go instore. Or if anyone knows any istore with stock in joburg.

Check Clearwater Mall and Sandton

Congratulations, sounds like you are enjoying your new beast! :D:thumbsup:

These phones are pushing the limits, I’m actually surprised at how Apple managed to keep the 14 Pro Max the same weight as 13 Pro Max, despite the newer camera gear, but I guess they balanced it out with the ever so slightly less dense battery, I would not be shocked if there were 14 Pro Max test units that easily broke past 240g.

That being said the heft also gives a more premium feeling (mixed with the stainless steel shine), IMO, it’s the same sort of thing I am expecting the Apple Watch Ultra to do as a smartwatch, feel premium and like you have a solid premium timepiece on your wrist.

With the above being said, I maintain that the Xs Max and 11 Pro Max were the absolute sweet spot for Pro Max iPhones, they were well sized and not as unwieldy as these bricks (12 Pro Max/13 Pro Max/14 Pro Max), lol. In fact the Xs Max was both large screened and light, the 11 Pro Max was a heavy thing but still rightly sized. This is where I think the 14 Plus may win over some people, I can see a few folks sacrificing the A16, Dynamic Island and extra camera for the lighter weight 14 Plus.

Oh yes definitely enjoying this beast.

Used to the weight already and you're correct about it having a but if premium feel to it as a result.

One last check that all apps and authenticators are working properly and the 12 will be wiped in preparation for handover to my son.

I'd be surprised if the iPhone went esim only in the next few years. Remember the Americans are already pretty used to the basic idea (CDMA networks were sim-less for years).

Other regions not so much, remember that China doesn't even have a single esim model yet.

And China is their biggest market outside the US

@epah Nothing in Sandton. I'm already on the standby list. (Both Pro and Pro Max 128Gb)
Yeah just got back from fourways mall, They have No pros/PM's, only the normal 14, The lady told me none of their stores have stock right now so I just asked her to put me on the wait list also. I am kinda over it at this point.

Ah no. I cant go another year without the dynamic island, are you kidding me. I cant sleep at night. I have had my 11 for almost 3 years now and the battery health is on 84% and definitely showing signs of wear(Dont tell me to replace the battery, I cant use a phone that has been opened and worked on, i just wont trust it anymore) When the 15 comes out my 11 will be worth nothing so i wont even be able to trade it in. Not to mention the 15 will still have the same stock issues.

Battery life for me after a full day is relatively decent on a 14 Pro. Sitting at 27% with AoD on all day.

Haven’t connected my work mails + teams which most likely will push it harder

Hmm, not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

When I use 3rd party apps (eg PnP app or Snapscan) it uses the 'standard' lens which is blurry close-up and I have to move the phone quite far back before it registers the code - I can see that it's blurry until I move the phone far enough away - normal behaviour?

Edit: can anyone with a 13 Pro confirm similar behaviour?

I’ve had a similar issue scanning Authenticator QR codes.

Don’t know if it’s normal but yeah

Same issue here, it's an issue with a lot of shopping apps where the camera in use is likely the wrong one. I presume it will need an update either by Apple or the dev of the apps.
