Haven't seen a thread for this.

I also just realised we are only a month away from possible announcement, so anyone upgrading? I'll be swapping a 13 mini for a 14 pro or so, mini just doesn't quite cut it for me - too small!

Now I'm not usually one to pay too much attention to rumours, but lets look at some of the rumoured upgrades:
  • always on display (references found in Xcode)
  • improved camera modules
  • new notch design for pro/pro max model

Cutouts rather than a notch, and also the A16 chip for the Pros.

Yeah, my 11 Pro Max was due for an upgrade in November last year... Placed the order, but one thing led to a chip shortage led to another and by the time folks called to say they finally had stock it was late February.

Pressed pause 'cos that's nearly half way through the 13's lifecycle and decided to wait on a shiny, new 14 Pro Max later this year instead.

It will be interesting to see if we have shortages again this year, I was able to get a mini right when they launched but more people seem to be after the pro/max models.

Had the same thing in January and February...

"We can get you an iPhone today."
"Is it a 13 Pro Max?"
"Um, no."
"Okay, I'm hanging up now."

Yeah, after putting a new phone off already, any shortage delays this year aren't going to be a problem for me.

Chances are I will probably get one somewhere in the next year or so, likely not at launch. Fortunately every iOS update makes the current phone feel new again.

iPhone 14 could be delayed due to growing China-Taiwan tension

You might have heard about Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, and her visit to Taiwan. It's been all over the news lately. But how is that relevant to the iPhone 14 release, you might ask?

Well, as most of you know, Apple is TSMC's top customer and the company ships chips to Pegatron in China where iPhones are assembled. And Pelosi's visit to Taiwan has put an even bigger strain on the China-Taiwan relationship. As a result, the CCP has come up with new regulations forbidding any mention of "Taiwan" or "Republic of China" in the shipping documents. This in turn means that some, if not all, of the hardware could be returned back to Taiwan and delay the iPhone 14 production as a result.

To make matters worse, Pegatron's Vice Chairman and top executives from TSMC were seen with Pelosi during the visit, so this could just be a beginning of a more fierce trade war between the CCP and Taiwan in which Apple and other US-based companies are caught in the middle.

I'm cancelling my contracts next month and moving to prepaid; keeping my iPhone 13 until it fails on me or becomes too slow.

Probably upgrading to the 14 Pro. Costs is a bit of a factor but as always selling my previous iPhone covers 50% of the cost normally

I am on the market for a new smartphone :) My current Android phone is on its last legs (you can lift the screen with your finger nails). Was gonna grab the iPhone 13 Pro, but realized Apple could be dropping a new iPhone this September. From the rumours spreading on the internet, I am happiest about the display notch disappearing on the Pro and Pro Max models.

Phone might be here in October if we are lucky, December if we aren't :(

I’m torn between getting my 11 Pro Max a new battery when it hits 80% health or trading it in and upgrading to the 14 Pro Max.
I’ll probably make my mind up once the 14 Pro Max goes official because I want it to be a good jump in terms of upgrade, lol.

A part of me really wants to see a periscope lens with 5x or even 10x zoom in the Pro Max and I am also hoping for the switch to USB-C, I believe that is happening if not this year then definitely next year.

Funny enough the leaks so far haven't convinced me on the iPhone 14 Pro. Especially seeing that my 12 Pro is still chugging along and already running iOS 16. The additional issue on the A15 being used in the non-pro 14 line has also raised an eyebrow

For folks like us there really is a big jump. Three generations of A chips, ProMotion, that 48 megapixel camera and the new design generally.

USB-C isn't really a thing for me. MagSafe FTW.

Fact is, I've inadvertently started a collection of Lightning cables and UK 20W power adaptors I'll never be using.

I'll definitely be upgrading from my 13 Pro Max. I've already bought my mom a 13 Pro Max and my one can go to my dad.

I can't see what would convince someone with a recent model to upgrade to the new iPhone, iWatch or Airpods. None of the new features are revolutionary or impactful enough to the average consumer, and their current products are pretty great already.

I'm contemplating a 14 or 14 Pro to replace my 12, depending on what rumoured features make it into the final product,

Because it's an opportunity to give my outgoing stuff to family.

ProMotion for me is not a biggie as I use an iPad Pro with 120hz screen, I have not felt the 'need' for ProMotion on my iPhone really, though its definitely nice, my Dad got the 13 Pro in Alpine Green and it looks great.

The 48MP camera should be a nice bump to the camera, interested to see what Apple does with it.

I'll wait to see what Apple shows at the announcement, maybe there is something they have kept as a surprise that will blow me away or push me over to want the 14 Pro Max, one thing I hope is that they either use the same battery capacity as 13 Pro Max or bump it up further to.
