iPhone 14 discussions

I got my 14 normal model on the 23rd october 2022, since then I've only used the factory apple cable and the apple fast charging brick purchased from iStore, I haven't used any beta iOS just the official releases, my phone is sitting on an astonishing 90% battery capacity after just 9 months of ownership, I'm highly disappointed with the obvious drop in manufacturing parts quality apple has taken the direction of. I only know of this issue being experienced on 14 pro models yet it's happening to me, I still have 3 months of my warranty left to see what happens to my device, as the battery does not last an entire day of usage. I highly doubt Apple will address this issue nor iStore (stingiest people ever) will even try help me fix it unless I'm willing to empty my wallet for them.View attachment 1571010
Sometimes you get a bad battery batch. Unfortunate but it is what it is.

Yeaaaaaah, definitely the phone that’s the problem…

When I bought my iPhone 12 I was also into MagSafe charging and had the fast charger, I was charging at every opportunity with it and noticed (but didn't really pay attention) the phone came off the MagSafe and wireless charger quite hot. I ended up at 90% in about 11 months.

I charge my 14Pro with a 5w charger overnight now, I don't use MagSafe or wireless and after 11 months I'm still on 100%.

Maybe I won the battery lottery this time or maybe slow cool charging is better, who knows?

Must say may battery % have dropped way faster than expected, but I think its because of load shedding. I normally don't use my phone that much and can easily last 2 days. But the last year with all the load shedding I watch Youtube and Tiktok a lot, especially over weekends, which I never done before and sometimes I even charge the phone twice a day.

You touch a point which I have wanted to raise as well - loadshedding.

Loadshedding basically changes your normal charging routine - for example, in my case, I stress that I won't make it through 2 hours of loadshedding, so I charge it more regularly than one would under normal circumstances, so you accumulate cycles quicker.

Loadshedding would be relevant if the rest of the developed world also experienced it.

Not just you. My 14 Pro Max reports 100% battery health and I upgraded my 13PM the day that the 14 series launched at iStore.

I use my phone quite a lot and charge it every day. I have a wireless charging pad but almost exclusively plug it in at my desk for a few minutes until it's up to around 94/95 every morning when I start work. It's just more convenient as it can sit in its phone stand whilst plugged in with a cable.

Loadshedding also messes up the Optimised Charging, the phone is not able to learn any consistent charging pattern due to the various stages throughout the week.

I'm not so sure, other than USB-C and an extra 1mm off the bezel I'm not seeing the attraction of buying a phone with a possible 20% price increase...

Its more of a thing where the normal 14 (which most likely wont be discontinued) will drop in price after the 15 is out. Also give the person the option.

Generally people get it on contract anyway and maybe they wouldn’t mind 100 bucks extra a month?

Possibly on the standard 15, yes, but that's in an Apple Store, the majority of what they sell is sim free handsets. It's why the Apple IUP is so popular.
