Hi Guys

I have confirmed and it is stated that APPLE decides on functionality, configuration & roll out to the various networks globally. Current indications from Apple is that this functionality will be made available during August i.e. MMS and tethering.

No. The network decides what it wants to provide. What needs to happen is Vodacom needs to send Apple it's network details so I can be pushed out by iTunes. The whole whole reason we have waited so long for tethering is because AT&T refused to offer it when they launched their exclusive deal with Apple, so there was no incentive for Apple to provide it.

This really could all have been sorted out at launch of OS 3.0. Instead the tech savvy sort themselves out, the helpdesk claim ignorance and the general end-users are left in the dark.

Are you 100% sure about that? I've had a brief look and I can't find any other network offering tethering and MMS settings for its iPhone users. Plenty of questions on similar forums though.

That's the impression I got from the WWDC. Apple said the availability of services would be determined by the carriers.
