Iphone 3GS dropping vodacom and Wifi

Hi Guys,

I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue.

It all started when I updated my firmware to iOS6.

What happens is that my cellular connection(vodacom, and cellular data switched off) and wifi will just randomly drops, and says No Service and I notice the wifi disconnects.

When this happens, my regular vodacom in the left top corner renames itself to VodacomSA and then back to Vodacom. Flippen weird.

I reset my phone this morning to factory settings with iOS 6.0.1, still does the same.

Any tips guys?
 
Have a look at settings, Cellular Data Network. Maybe try renaming your APN to (internet) as I think it defaults to (iphone.vodacom.za)
 
I got rid of Apple when this started on my iPhone3GS after a stock standard iOS upgrade, and despite finding thousands of people on google with similar issues both Apple & Vodacom refused to help as my phone was 2 weeks out of warantee. My story should still be on MyBB if you feel like searching for it.

Sad thing is my phone was 100% working for a year before that & I did nothing but upgrade my software through iTunes, but the result of the upgrade was my phone would 'lose signal' & show 'No Service' until eventually ending up on the 'Sync with iTunes' screen and I had to do a restore. This happened about 2-3 times a week at that stage, and Vodacom and Apple's attitude was what prompted me to get my family off Apple and onto Android.

Strangely this has never happened on my family's 3 Samsungs despite still being subsribed to Vodacom for voice.

ps. As far as I could figure in my searches, the phone's baseband or something gets screwed when updating the firmeware resulting in this problem. Apple USA just swops the units out, over here I was at the mercy of Vodacom and Core, both companies with 'reputations'.

Eish... not good.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm pretty sure there is a way to downgrade back to 5.1.1 .
