Got a reply back from Vodacom. They say that no bumper cases will be provided by them and that I need to take it up with Apple. Pretty rude actually... but since I haven’t suffered any dropped calls or bad call quality I’m not too concerned.

LOL, I don't think you have any "demanding power". They are not providing bumpers FOC, and if you are not happy with that, then there are several thousand in the queue waiting behind you that will take your phone without a bumper. I really don't think you need a bumper - apart from protection. Signal has been improved to a level above that of the 3G and 3GS, by having the antenna on the outside - so if you happen to do a death grip on the phone, then it will reduce your signal to the same level as what you would have with a 3G or 3GS.
Crunch the iPhone 4 like you are throttling it = same signal level (dBm) as an iPhone 3G (held lightly)
Hold the iPhone 4 lightly in a normal fashion = better signals than a iPhone 3G (held lightly)

Thanks, but I'm not finding this app in the app store on the phone. Did you / anyone else manage to find it?
Yep, the app is not in the za app store, but the program still shows up on the ZA apple website here http://www.apple.com/za/iphone/case-program/ , so you would actually need to call Apple Care, to get your bumper, thus making it a tedious process designed to discourage users who don't really need a case and just want the freebie.
If you want the app go the US store and log in with your US profile.

Thanks. I can't believe the difference in the number and quality of apps available in the US app store vs the SA app store. It's actually quite pathetic that we get limited in the number of apps. I created a US account and I don't think I'll ever us my SA one again.
