iPhone 4 vs SG2

@News24, it's R200 more per month man. That's really ridiculous. I am a student. I really can't stretch my budget that much.

Anyone have experience on the cost of Android apps vs Apple apps?

Also, have there been any indications of pricing of that RAZR?

NB the words "backup phone". It's not your everyday phone so until you use it 24/7/365 I think your opinion is moot

I do, actually.

My Galaxy S2 is taking a well deserved break, till it's time for an ice cream sandwich. ;)

Brilliant little phone.

Hahaha sorry but I don't have any big pocket clothes ;) impressive battery life though

You know... Midget clothes are going out of fashion?

:D

I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;)

In your case BlackBerry is the way to go. Very difficult to keep cost under control with the other devices with all the cool temptations that eats data like a hungry lion eats meat. Students with parents with open pockets cango for whatever they like but if you are on a tight budget you must tread carefully with these "open" devices. Eight months down the line the fancy gimmicks are old hat and then all that matters is cost, especially when the girlfriend's needs must be attended to as well (and the bakkie needs pertol to go for a drive).

Never ever a good idea to stretch a budget for a cool cell phone. I know nobody will listen to me, but it is good advice. Three months down the line one is in another hunt for another cool "something" and then that extra money thrown at the not so cool anymore cell phone hurts.

Too true on a tight budget BB is still the way to go.

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread. Have the old Torch and it's just terribly slow. Ideally I'd like to get the Bold Touch, but also out of my price range. Actually just found it on the weekender for R299. Yet another spanner in the works.

Most of my friends do use Whatsapp though and I do have uncapped at home and run my iPad on the wi-fi.

On BB you can run both BBM and WhatsApp. Not possible the other way around. Why BB is still the best student phone.

... and you can also run your BB on the home wi-fi for more speed (BIS is sloooooow).

The extra R200+ you will have to dish out for data every month for 24 months adds up to a lot of money that a student can spend on other cool stuff.

Choosing between iPhone and Android keep in mind that students share stuff all the time. This makes the iPhone a no go device for students.
