Bypass the exaggerated hyperbole.
It is a phone. Some people like it, others will not. Some people will want it more than others.
Kinda like most things in retail these days.
Shoes, jeans, cars.
Designed... built... marketed... sold.
Bought by you and I.
Cut the emotional hyperbole.

I'll start by saying I'm an iPhone 4 user, and I intend buying a 5 on Friday. I haven't preordered because I want to see the colours in person before deciding.
But, it isn't really going to cost me much to do so, I got the most expensive phone I could as an upgrade 2 weeks ago, a lovely plastic fantastic Galaxy S3. I tried it for a week, just to see how much better it was than my old Galaxy S2 (it wasn't, other than a better camera).
I then sold the Galaxy S3 (I got ÂŁ340 for it, UK pricing), and I've now been offered ÂŁ250 for my iPhone 4. The 16GB iPhone 5 will cost me ÂŁ529 (so in profit by ÂŁ61) or ÂŁ599 (costing me ÂŁ9) for the 32GB.
In essence, a nice cheap upgrade![]()
ÂŁ599 for the 32GB.
That is a 5hitload of money for a phone - over R8000 in funny money !
.. a nice cheap downgrade in my book.
These are the people who is buying that iPhone 5

I agree, after using my iphone 4 for so long, the SGS3 really did feel like a downgrade![]()
I have to agree with Wag.
There isn't much of a comparison between an iPhone 4 and a SG3.
Yes - the iPhone 4 is built better and feels better, but when it comes to functionality and usability how can the SG3 be a 'downgrade'? The is rated as one of the best phones on the market, one of the best sellers on the market, does everything an iPhone does - and more - and has persuaded a fair number of Apple users to switch?
There are plenty of Apple fans on here - but they will at least acknowledge the S3 being a great phone. A comment like yours automatically puts you in an 'iSheep' category
... do you agree with him that the iPhone 5 is a downgrade from a S3.
or do you agree with him that the iPhone 5 is a downgrade from a S3
O - missed the question.
Well I'd never sell an S3 to get an iPhone ... So I think I do see it as a downgrade. Not a bad thing - just difference of opinions. For me, iOS lets Apple down
