Hey, anybody experiencing a loss of signal on their iphone 5?

I'm on Vodacom and lose signal about 3 -4 times a day. I toggle airplane mode on/off and if that doesn't work switch Carriers Auto on/off. Lots of calls dropped as well about a minute or 2 into the call.

Initially I thought the Capdase case I was using was causing the problem but it still persist. 16 gig I got on 14 Dec.

I know someone that has the same issue with his iPhone 4, and he is also on Vodacom....
hmmm... might it be a network issue and not neccessarily the phone??

I usually used to get good signal if I switched off 3G mode. Maybe you should try it as well

I had an issue with my iPhone 5 where when I lost signal (low coverage area) the phone would say "no service" and only rebooting the phone would get signal back. Even airplane mode would not fix it. After a reboot, I would have a full Vodacom signal. There was a huge thread on the apple forums with lots of people complaining, apparently certain carriers have this issue. People said installing 6.1 beta 4 fixed the issue. I don't like installing betas on my primary phone but was getting fed up so I installed it and I couldn't be happier. I find the phone to be faster, better battery life, no wifi issues and best of all the "no service" issue has not appeared once.

I don't know when 6.1 will be released, people were hoping for last week but apple instead released beta 5 on Saturday as beta 4 was expiring tomorrow. I can say that beta 5 is not restricted to developer program registered phones like the previous betas and it apparently won't expire so you might be able to find it floating around on the net if you are desperate.

6.1 has come and gone, the problem still persists. It seems to happen when you enter a low signal area, I've found the quickest way to regain signal is to switch it off then on again.

Go look at the topic at the top of the page in the main Mac forum and not the iPhone sub forum. It's called Vodacom iPhone 5 LTE problem or something like that. It should help :)

Are you on Vodacom and prepaid or topup?

Vodacom Top up - saw you were having the same issues.

More often than not I can't even make calls with Full signal! Call Failed....
