iPhone 5 LTE support

Everywhere, you can look in the Vodacom section as well. The phones with LTE (i5, S3 etc) end up getting a lot of no signal, which need an airplane mode toggle to sort out. The customer care is advising people to turn off LTE to stop this from happening.

At least with Vodacom the 3G always works. Cell C, the biggest mistake I ever made. Sitting next to my gf (both with i5's on Cell C) she gets working 3G and mine just times out. When we are in a different location it's reversed. It's a lucky draw whether your connection works or not, and I'd rather pay more to know that people can always get hold of me when needed.

The fact that Cell C ignores all the comments on this BB, and the MyBroadband just rans a silly article saying everything is working and there wasn't a problem just means it's something that they covering up in a big way.

And as usual, there is nothing the SA consumer can do.

I use a Samsung on Cell C ,I do not experiences these issues that you are all describing, it appears everyone moaning is using an iPhone 5. Maybe Iphones are the problem here
My 3G works great all over JHB..

No Service after carrier update, iPhone 5

Yesterday at about 4pm, my phone notified me of a carrier update. I knew this was the new LTE update so I applied it. The second I hit apply, BAM, No Service.

I get service in other areas, but in Cape Town CBD, Adderley Street (where the update was applied), I get no service at all. I still seem to get service in residential areas, but as soon as I get near town, it dies. Obviously this has never been a problem before.

Restarting the phone temporarily fixes it, I will have service for maybe 15-30 mins, then it dies again.

I can't really go on like this, I need to be able to receive calls at work. What's the story?

Sounds like you don't get service in areas where Cell-C have LTE coverage:

As whatwhat suggested, just turn LTE off for now.

"Cell C will notify customers when the company launches LTE to its general customer base. Once LTE is launched commercially, Cell C customers will need to ensure they have a USIM (LTE-provisioned SIM card) in their device for LTE to work on the phone." *DM*

I had this yesterday and today in CPT CBD and Claremont - No Service for 15-30 mins, turn off and on to fix for a short while.

Plumstead/Rondebosch I don't get the issue. Looks like as ginggs said, where there is LTE I get No Service. Will turn off until Cell C tells us it'll work.

[EDIT] iPhone 5 from Cell C with a Cell C Nano SIM

I have just applied the iOS 6.1.4 update to my CellC iPhone 5 and cant seem to find the option for "Enable LTE"? I still have the old "Enable 3G" Would I have to be in LTE coverage in order for the option to appear or do I need a USIM?

I have tried restarting my phone as well. What do you guys think?

Cool.

So with this there is no problems?

When / where do we get one of these sims?

USIM's are available at most Cell C stores, but remember LTE will be fully functional once it is officially launched. Dates to be confirmed. *DM*

If you got the SIM with your iPhone 5 from Cell C do you still need to go swop it out?

I took out the sim in my iPhone and it said 128kB USIM on it with the Cell C logo.

For what it is worth: my Cell-C LTE Launch Offer SIM card is black and has '128K POWER SIM' printed on it. It looks just like all my other Cell-C SIM cards (pre-paid, promo 12x2GB, promo 12x5GB) except on the underside (where the gold pads are) the numbers are white on black, where the others are black on white.
