iPhone 5 LTE support

I'm not impressed with the carrier update for iPhone5. It disabled the option to switch to EDGE and so far I havent been able to fore the connection to Vodacom. Both of these are essential since I have given up on CellC data during working hours in Joburg CBD.

I'm hoping I can downgrade the settings.

seems the manual selection of vodacom withedge is working again. Since I now havbe a cell c antenna literally above my desk at work I'm hoping I wont need to do this anymore

Unlucky....

I hope they dont get charged for a sim swop.

2 months down the line and still no LTE.

probably about 2 months ago i got the update on my iphone.. but only after some weird navigation to the cellular provider menu in settings.. it randomly popped up.. still not sure what i did... wasnt through the normal phone update menu...

Maybe we will see LTE on our iPhone's next year...

I've never once seen my phone achieve an LTE connection - I work in the CBD and live in Southern Suburbs. Are there just no CellC LTE towers in cape town?

Edit: Never-mind, see it's only available on their launch offer. Good excuse as any to finally port back to vodacom.

Yeah kinda suck no LTE yet..... Wow they are the only network in sa with no public LTE. I mean Vodacom,MTN and Telkom Mobile allows for LTE on their prepaid service.....

...ya think...?

Thousands of people battle to get any throughput on 3G - imagine switching LTE on - that will just drain all the data that's left.

LTE is a separate network. A 3G cell could be suffering from congestion but LTE in the same area could be flying.

Waking the dead here but is LTE still not available to all?

Had an iPhone 5 and noticed I had to turn off my LTE setting while in CT CBD or I'd get no reception - I then had an S4 mini for 3 months so didnt worry about that anymore but now I have an iPhone 5 again and even with LTE enabled while in CT CBD I only get 3G.

No still waiting.......... MTN has LTE in my smallish town Richards Bay so I am seriouslly considering moving my number to MTN. Cellc 3G is not bad but LTE will be better

From my experience in CPT with Afrihost mobile I'd say that MTN reception is actually worse than Cell C. Struggled to get a strong 3G signal with Afrihost, mainly 2G, but with Cell C I'm on 3G pretty much all the time around Southern Suburbs and city bowl.
