Cell C LTE not ready yet
A recent carrier update from Apple enabled Long Term Evolution (LTE) support for the iPhone 5 on the Cell C network, but the operator is not yet ready to commercially launch the service.
In a statement on the MyBroadband forum, a Cell C representative said: “Cell C will notify customers when the company launches LTE to its general customer base.”
Asked for more details, Cell C said that it has no timeframe for their LTE launch just yet.
The operator’s spokesperson also explained that once they had launched LTE, subscribers would have to make sure that they have a USIM that’s LTE-provisioned to use the LTE network.
“Most of our iPhone 5 customers will have USIMs already,” Cell C told MyBroadband when asked if this means that a SIM swap would be necessary.
“There are a small group of customers from the first batch of sales that will need to complete a SIM swap.”
