The rumour mill definitely spoils these events for everyone. Was the same with the S3 with people leaving the event under whelmed, yet the S3 is an incredibly competent package, as is this new iPhone.
When it comes to technology I think we have unrealistic expectations. We require this instant gratification and the need to be constantly "wowed".
In the information age the chances of this happening are becoming less and less likely.
Speculation about the new iPhone started long before the 4s launched as that was to be the 5. Remember??
So for the last, I don't know how many months, our expectations have been built up and built up and built up, for this particular launch.
So Apple brings a device that has improved in every regard, and we like, "well that was boring".
No s hit. We've known for the last 6 months or more than it would feature a new dock connector, nano micro sim, 4inch screen, LTE and 2 tone aluminium finish.
Hell, we even knew it would be 7.6mm thin.
iOS6 has been available to developers for quite sometime too, so no surprises there either, but dig under the skin a little and you'll find numerous changes to the UI/OS!!
I don't understand peoples disappointment.
We have faster cpu and gpu, 1gb of ram, bigger and brighter screen, LTE and dual band wifi, enhanced sapphire camera optics, 3 microphones for voice recognition and noise cancellation, improved headphones and a more durable reversible dock connector.
But here's the catch, despite the hardware enhancements the device is 18% lighter, 20% thinner and has improved battery life!!!!
Sorry, but had we known nothing prior to launch I think most folk would have been pretty happy with this device.
