iPhone 6 to be your digital wallet: reports

Yip that aligns with what I was expecting.. Another case of apple waiting till a tech matures enough with people adopting a standard and then throwing weight behind it hehe.. Sneaky I guess but effective

Apple finally getting on the NFC bandwagon. And announcing it like a big thing of course.....

Apple finally getting on the NFC bandwagon. And announcing it like a big thing of course.....

They submitted several NFC-related patents many moons ago. It was only recently announced that their combined NFC And wireless charger patent was published, known as, "Wirelessly Charged Electronic Device with Shared Inductor Circuitry”. This is a big patent, utilising shared circuitry to save space. I believe patents on NFC and payment gateways are around the corner...

Another series in patent lawsuits coming up.

I believe it was ABSA? who were trialing NFC payments near the end of 2012. Will be interesting to see what comes out of these patent wars.

You add a feature to your product. Of course you make a big deal about it. They never claimed to invent NFC as some kids on mybb like to claim. When Samsung, Microsoft or Google add a feature, they also announce it. You need to get over your Apple hate. Nobody is forcing you to buy their products or even watch their product announcements.

Would you trust Apple to act as your wallet? I don't know if I would, unless the banks are willing to back it (eg insurance against fraud). The less companies that have my details stored, the better.
