iPhone 6s

I'm thinking of going iPhone 6 or 6s middle of this year, have never owned an iPhone, only iPads & iPods. What iPhone should I go for?

Looks like Telkom Mobile has the best deal on the 6 currently, more than R200 cheaper.
Vodacom's 6s deal is better than Telkom's.

At the mid year point is when I'd recommend waiting for the next iPhone to be released.

I wouldn't upgrade from a 6 to 6s but if buying new its a no brainier for me, 6s.
 
It's an interesting debate though, whether it's worth the upgrade or not?

For me iOS uniformity across multiple devices actually dilutes the need to constantly upgrade to the latest devices.

On paper the upgrade is a no brainer. 2gb of ram, superior camera and CPU/GPU and have you watched the s series drop tests? The build integrity is vastly improved over the 6!

But the day to day usage experience is not dis-similar to what one would experience on a 6/5s.

6 64GB on Telkom Mobile SmartPlan 100 (100 minutes, 1GB data pm: R10,776 (R449 x 24 months).
6s 64GB on Vodacom Smart S (R599 pm, 75 minutes, 300MB data pm) + 1GB (R75 pm): R16,176

Granted the networks and the packages are not identical, but it's just to paint a rough comparison.

The 6s from Vodacom is R5400 is more expensive than the 6 from Telkom Mobile. The packages could change by mid 2016, but if they don't, is the 6s worth paying 50% more than the 6?

edit: I'm eligible for a contract upgrade with Vodacom in 82 days... approaching fast!

I've just moved from a 6 Plus to a 6S.

Fingerprint reader is unbelievably fast
Animations are slightly faster
Tapatalk used to crash (RAM?) and it doesn't anymore
Better battery life (I had a 6)
3D Touch - I don't use it at all
Better camera

If the above justifies the additional price tag, go for it... If you feel it's stretching your budget, rather go for the 6.

The main reason to go for the newer model is longevity. It costs more but will take longer to slow down.

So if you plan on keeping the device for an extended time, it makes sense to pony out the extra cash.

The additional memory will certainly help down the road.
 
Strange observation but I previously posted about my touchid being unreliable. If I allowed the phone to sit for an hour or more, touchid would not work and after unlocking with the passcode touchid would work again.

After changing my passcode to a numeric code (it was alphanumeric), touchid is now more reliable...

Did you try to wipe and start from scratch?
