I'm thinking of gifting my iPhone 8 plus to my father and dare I say it , going Android route as iPhones are just too pricey and would be nice for a change but dont want to spend big bucks on S22/23 types

Looking at Samsung A54?
Redmi Note but hear 11 sucks?

Main uses besides standard phone use.

You are going to regret this...
I had an LG G3 a while back, man the screen on that was awesome but Android sucked so had custom os.

is Android still so bad ?

Rather spend the money and buy an iPhone 12/11 or SE. Nowhere near the price of a new iPhone and will still be reliable for years.

Rather go for a used iPhone 11/12 Pro / Pro Max from 2020/2021. You’ll still be faster, and capturing better memories, than 99% of 2023 Androids. Also, your backup & import via iCloud or iTunes will be seamless, retaining your comfort zone in that walled garden we oh so love.

I think you are in the wrong section.

Probably best to go ask the Android people which one you should buy as they don’t exist to most people here.

Too small, I’m getting old
Yeah all that white space is really nice.

The worst for white space is OnePlus & whatever skin they use these days.

iOS is very efficient for white space & that’s valued.

Well, just add the performance disclaimer where iPhone is faster but slower - because faster doesn’t mean faster and a slower phone can be faster at performance tasks. And don’t forget battery management and RAM management can make slower be faster.

Or something like that.

Add the iCloud disclaimer too.

I remember adding albums and it was terrible. For the next month anytime I need a file I had to scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll.

It adds to recent folder which is a bit dumb
