So I don't have a clue what is going on with the networks. I am getting SMS's like a week delayed. Situation:
1. on Vodacom
2. iPhone 3G

at first I phoned the help desk to which I was told maybe I deleted the sms or something. Then they gave me a ref number and got someone to phone me back and track some sms's all of which they say they have on their logs that they were delivered to the device. So they told me it might be my SIM or my phone.

So step one - buy new SiM --- SAME ISSUE

Step 2 I wanted the 3Gs so just bought one. So have a new SIM new phone and still have the same issue. Super delayed SMS's and even some SMS's from like three weeks ago I dont have.

Sometimes I get you have 13 new SMS's and they like all the SMS's from yesterday...

Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Friend of mine has the same issue on his non-3G iPhone on Voda.
Been happening for at least a good few months now.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice......................

Have you considered that your brain might be emitting radiation and electrical noise, which is interfering with the cellphone signals coming from the tower? That would explain the delayed SMSs, and a couple of other issues I've picked up....

Geez what a helpful fellow you are - do you even have an iPhone on the VC network? The issues are many and have been for quite some time ranging from reception issues to call dropping, roaming issues etc. An awesome piece of hardware being let down by a service provider that has not been keeping up with user demand.
@myNeo - even though I have not experienced your specific issue I think you can safely rule out your brain blocking any signal!
;)

Im also experiencing the same issue, Iphone 3GS on Vodacom.... Tried changing my sms centre number, that didnt help either...

I'm sure theres more people on here with the same issue? I never had this issue with my Nokia phone, so it has to be with the Iphone.

Well I never experienced it on my iPhone with the Cell C network, so it must be Vodacom!

No and No. And sorry :-) It was late last night. My sleep-, oxygen- and caffeine-deprived brain couldn't help itself. Bad boy, bad boy! Sit! Stay!

Did you perhaps port your number from another network?

same here... my messages get delivered days after they were sent ... (not all of them though) seems to be randon ..ill try on my e71 tonight and see how that works

Don't have this problem at all (Vodacom + iphone 3G).

Only issue I have is sending long sms's to some numbers doesn't go through (when it is more than 1 sms length). When I put my simcard into another phone all sms's suddenly goes through (followed by some confused replies).

I don't have any problems. the only time i ever had issues like this was with a proted number thats it.

So got a call today from Vodacom where the customer representative admitted they are having some serious capacity issues at the moment. I apparently have a load of sms's sitting in the que which they cannot actually force send they will just "appear" one day...

Yep - every once in a while it takes an sms hours to get through - this morning for instance - sms'd the boss at 06h30 - he received it at 14h30 - he was not a happy camper - thanks vodacom!
