iPhone appeal slipping

I think Apple need to worry about the shareholders more than customers. If the next Iphone is not groundbreaking or rather they cannot convince them that it's groundbreaking expect the share price to plummet

Not to be a fan boy, but iPhones definitely have MUCH better build quality than the rest. I've watched several other people go through 2 or 3 or even 4 Samsungs or HTCs during which time my iPhone has remained as pristine as the day it was unboxed and just as functional if not more than the competition. IMHO screen size is a bit of a red herring (while screen resolution is not). A phone needs to be hand sized and if you need bigger then you should probably be using a tablet. The large screen phones present a larger surface to be scratched. The iPhone presents a perfect balance between size and the retina display is far more useful in handheld format than a huge screen.

*waits for "the usuals" to come defend apple's honor, because apple's system alert center has detected something slightly negative being said on the internet. apple faithful: no rest for the wicked* :p

Jokes aside, you can't be "the best" forever, ironically, as apple has proven...as Samsung is proving. This, of course, doesn't mean that apple is out for the count -not by a long shot - BUT you can see they're not as invincible as "the usuals" would have you believe.

I'm sick of seeing almost everyone with an iPhone and I've owned every model since 2007, it really has lost it's appeal since everyone that wants one has one.

Sales of the iPhone 4S are slowing down because of the anticipation for the iPhone 5. Exactly the same thing happened with the iPad2 going towards the iPad3 announcement. It's pretty well accepted that the next gen iPhones will be worth waiting for to upgrade. Rather let's wait for iPhone5 to be a disappointment before making predictions.

I would love to have that problem as a company.

It the problem with having a predictable release cycle - it always has been.

The iPhone 5 will have to be epic to keep people excited in owning one, so far rumors and "leaks' have been pretty boring.

Same here, but slowly people are realising the SIII's superior qualities.

As long as the phone itself doesn't get bigger, I don't mind too much.
But not thrilled about the idea of the bigger screen

The iPhone4s was also a relatively pedestrian update - comparatively speaking the iPhone5 should be quite major. It looks boring if you're wanting a 5" FHD screen or something but that is not Apple's majority customer base.

It's not the iPhone alone that's losing appeal, Apple's policies & walled garden approach are just so backwards compared to the ease of use of Android.

How are you so sure that people, outside of the nerd-herd, actually give a damn?

Having had 3 iPhones (2, 3, 3s) and now 3 Androids (2 x s2, ace) in my family, and having being the designated installer/maintainer I am the one giving a damn.

Who do you think people go to when looking at advice for there next upgrade.... The nerds. Also, it isn't just nerds these days who are getting enlightened to technology news. Being tech savy is becoming mainstream.

did someone just say iPhones build quality ? i have 4 friends with iPhones.. guess how many have that amazing cracked back look? all of them. My S2 has fallen down stairs, gone flying across rooms, all it has is a scuff on the side. My one friends iPhone cracked in his pocket while at varsity :/

im not saying the iPhone doesnt have things that aren't good. Its just you cant use that excuse.

And how can you justify getting a 4s over an S3 ?
